SUMMARY:Call for Artists - This Moment Art Show
DESCRIPTION:Introducing Indivisible Burke NC’s This Moment Art Show! \nWhy an art show? \nDemocracy is a living thing — and so is the community that sustains it. At Indivisible Burke NC\, we believe that the connections we build with one another are just as important as the actions we take together. The This Moment Art Show is born from that belief. \nWe are all processing these times in our own ways and sometimes we don’t have the words. Art steps in where words fail. It is one of the most powerful ways humans have to create connection and help us begin necessary conversations about complex things. This is how we build the solidarity to fight fascism and strengthen our democracy. \nThis Moment is an invitation to start conversations. Let’s use art to help us process our shared experience. \nRead our prospectus to learn more and submit your work. Deadline to submit an application is May 31\, 2026 11:59pm Eastern

SUMMARY:Trousdale: Growing Pains (Deluxe) Tour
DESCRIPTION:STANDING ROOM ONLY \nTroufriends Ball VIP Experience includes:\n● One (1) GA ticket ● Invitation to the Troufriends Ball\, including: ● Meet & greet and photo opp with the band ● 2-song acoustic set ● Rehearsal for VIP in-show performance participation (from the audience) ● Exclusive VIP merch gifts ● 10% discount merch booth coupon\, redeemable at this show only ● Commemorative VIP laminate & lanyard ● Early entry into the venue ● Hassle-free merch shopping before doors open ● Limited availability \nTROUSDALE\nFor Trousdale—the trio of Quinn D’Andrea\, Georgia Greene\, and Lauren Jones—the ache of growing through change\, of facing down existential anxiety\, and matters of the heart are all intimately familiar. “We can acknowledge the strides we’ve made and be grateful\, but we’ve talked a lot about how tired we are\,” Jones says with a laugh. “We’ve been thinking a lot about the tension that comes with change\, wanting it\, fighting it\, embracing it\, but learning to thrive in that moment.” On Trousdale’s upcoming LP\, Growing Pains (due April 11th)\, the band works through those struggles to find strength\, courage\, and growth in each other. “From what was\, something new can always grow\,” D’Andrea says. \nOpening on a ripping electric guitar and bolstered by their trademark harmonies\, the title track and lead single perfectly encapsulates those feelings in the life of Trousdale. “I’m making it through the tough times when it feels like I’ve been burning out/ Trying to build up the muscle so the hustle doesn’t pull me down\,” they sing\, a limber bass line drawing each new syllable forward. The album was recorded largely live in the room and co-produced by the band and John Mark Nelson\, a songwriter who has also co-written and produced songs for Suki Waterhouse and Shaboozey\, as well as engineered tracks for the likes of Taylor Swift and Mitski. “This song was about what we feel every day in this band\,” Greene says. “Being exhausted but finding beauty together.” \nTrousdale’s debut album\, 2023’s Out of My Mind\, earned raves from the likes of the Boston Globe\, Consequence\, and Atwood Magazine for its powerful songwriting\, immaculate harmonies\, and ability to bridge gaps between country and indie pop. On Growing Pains\, the three songwriters evolved their style\, writing rough ideas on their own\, then refining and finishing them in the room together. “We’re all adding to each other’s ideas\, drawing from personal experiences and then expanding them into something more people can connect with\,” D’Andrea explains. \nverygently \nverygently is the collective spark of three established Nashville singer-songwriters—Drew Erwin\, Joey Hendricks\, and Tristan Bushman—who joined forces in early 2024 and quickly made noise with their debut EP DUMBA$$ MODE. Blending razor-sharp wit with open-hearted vulnerability\, the trio crafts harmony-driven indie rock that turns heartache into something anthemic. After touring alongside Ruston Kelly\, Augustana\, The Band Camino\, and The Fray\, they built a reputation for magnetic\, cathartic live shows fueled by airtight harmonies and undeniable chemistry.

SUMMARY:Roots Grown Deep w/ Joel Karabo
DESCRIPTION:Roots Grown Deep presents Musical Ecology 2 LIVE! \n“They take us beyond blood and bone\, beyond memory and fear\, to a place where everything is ‘no thing’ made of a single substance.” \nThe beloved multi-cultural world music ensemble Roots Grown Deep performs music from their watershed work Musical Ecology 2 which is due for release in May 2026. \nRoots Grown Deep is a multi-cultural\, multi-continental world ensemble project guided by composer Joel Karabo Elliott. The original African Branches were founded in Southern Africa in 2012 and since 2020 the American Branches have grown together in southern Appalachia (western North Carolina). SUMMARY:Amici – Jewish Jazz the Sequel
DESCRIPTION:AmiciMusic returns to the White Horse for another thrilling JEWISH JAZZ program on Saturday\, May 30th at 2:00pm. “JEWISH JAZZ–the Return of the Jewdi” is a sequel to the fun and popular program they performed last year featuring the wonderful Seth Kibel on clarinet and Artistic Director Daniel Weiser on piano. They will highlight more exciting connections between American Jazz and Klezmer-influenced music with works by Jacob Weinberg\, Benny Goodman\, Bela Kovacs\, and a fantastic arrangement of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.” Dr. Weiser will tell great stories about how these two idioms intertwined in the early part of the 20th century as the wave of Jewish immigrants to NYC met up with the Great Migration of African-Americans from the South. Kibel is a phenomenal talent who has been voted best musician in the Baltimore/DC area for several years. You won’t want to miss this toe-tapping exciting music. \nFor more info about the program and the artists\, visit: https://www.amicimusic.org/concert/jewish-jazz-5-3/.

SUMMARY:OPENING RECEPTION: Black Mountain COLL(A)GE
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the opening reception of our summer exhibition\, Black Mountain COLL(A)GE\, hosted at BMCM+AC. This reception is free and open to all.\nBlack Mountain College Museum + Arts Center presents Black Mountain COLL(A)GE\, an exhibition tracing the presence of collage through the history and legacy of the renowned liberal arts college. Combining work by Black Mountain College artists with select contemporary collagists\, the exhibition foregrounds transformation as a radical strategy\, assembling an ever-shifting picture of collage as medium\, method\, and memory.\nFrom Josef Albers’ matière exercises to the collaborative 1951 “Glyph Exchange” between Charles Olson\, Ben Shahn and Katherine Litz\, cutting up and rearranging found material was a way of life at Black Mountain College. Some of the 20th century’s most influential collage practitioners\, including Robert Rauschenberg and Ray Johnson\, studied at BMC. Many other students took up collage as a life-long medium\, including Irwin Kremen\, William Douglas McGee\, Jo Sandman\, John Urbain\, Mary Parks Washington\, and Susan Weil. Still others continued to experiment with cut-ups while working in other realms of creative production\, such as the writer and critic Suzi Gablik. Today\, collage continues to exert a powerful influence on our art ecosystem. Selected works from contemporary collagists contextualize the medium’s trajectory and provide a window into the future. Curated by Kira Houston\, this exhibition pieces together a wide array of stories to encapsulate a visual and sonic exploration of Black Mountain COLL(A)GE. \nBlack Mountain COLL(A)GE will be on view from May 29\, 2026 through September 5\, 2026.\nBlack Mountain College Museum + Arts Center is donation-based and open to all.\nLearn more on our website at https://www.blackmountaincollege.org/black-mountain-collage/

SUMMARY:PATIO SHOW: Abe Reid
DESCRIPTION:– LIMITED PATIO SEATING IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE ABE REID Abe Reid is a North Carolina musician and one of the modern keepers of the Piedmont roots music tradition. Born in Forsyth County and raised in Statesville\, Reid began playing guitar at a young age\, developing a deep connection to the region’s historic finger-style traditions. His musical education came directly from the source. As a young player\, he spent time with legendary Carolina musicians Guitar Gabriel and Cootie Stark\, learning not only guitar technique but also the storytelling and spirit behind traditional American music. In the 1990s\, Reid immersed himself in the life of a working musician\, busking on the streets of New Orleans before returning to North Carolina’s music scene. He later helped form the roots band The Blue Rags\, known for energetic performances and traditional sounds. Reid gained international recognition when he won the International Blues Challenge in Memphis—becoming the first solo performer to win the competition. Today\, Abe Reid continues to perform\, teach\, and share the music of the American South\, passing on knowledge learned from older musicians and decades on the road.

Songwriting and composing have been a lifelong passion. \nThey were born and raised part of their life in the high mountain desert region of Colorado\, and now can be found exploring the lush feminine Grandmother Mountains of North Carolina. They are homeschooled and spend a lot of their time singing and creating. \nAnna and Anzi grew up inspired by an array of musical landscapes and experiences from nightly improv lullabies\, reading books as a song\, ecstatic dance\, music festivals\, family dance nights\, backyard fires with friends\, to the small stages of friends’ art galleries\, to making up songs in the backseat of the car. All while studying with Jeremy Dittus at the Dalcroze School of the Rockies\, since they were 5 years old. This led them to play piano and guitar. \nThey have played on stages of Global Leaf\, The White Horse\, Grey Eagle & Salvage Station in WNC\, as well as music festivals on stage\, and around the campfire with Max Ribner\, Paul Izak\, Tubby Love\, and The Freedom Family Band. They have sang with musicians MaMuse\, Samara Jade\, Aimée Ringle and Micaela Kingslight at The Circle Revival Gatherings\, a six-hour ceremony and gathering of 1100 people. They have spent significant time in state-of-the-art recording studios with Max Ribner and Roots Grown Deep. They have received accolades from Grammy Award-winning songwriter Jim Lauderdale and Marty Dodson. \nWebsite: https://anzaharmonies.com/home \nChinobay Kinobe: \nRooted in the rich cultural and musical traditions of Uganda\, Chinobay is a musician\, cultural ambassador\, and educator who has opened hearts across the globe and performed as a featured artist at top tier festivals and venues. \nAs a child growing up in his homeland of Uganda\, Chinobay lived in a small home near the Kanyange king’s palace. Constant immersion in the traditional music coming from the palace left an indelible mark on him. He embraced the folk tunes he learned from these musical elders\, crafting early works that paid homage to the music of his own tribe\, the Baganda people. \nAs he grew musically\, he revitalized these classic folk songs\, and along the way he mastered a broad array of traditional instruments. Today\, he is a seasoned songwriter\, a dedicated educator\, and a bridge-builder between cultures. His original compositions breathe life into the diverse stories of humanity\, showcasing Africa in its full spectrum of richness — transcending its portrayal merely as a backdrop for adversity. \nHis band seamlessly fuses Ugandan folk music with a wide range of global influences\, from Afrobeat dance rhythms to world funky inflections\, transcending genres and creating a sound that is both distinctive and accessible. With the band\, Chinobay incorporates traditional instruments such as the kora\, a West African harp-lute\, the kalimba\, a thumb piano native to East and Southern Africa\, the tamani\, a West African talking drum from Mali\, and the endongo\, a traditional Ugandan string instrument. These instruments not only offer a unique sonic texture but also help to preserve and celebrate Africa’s diverse musical heritage. \nBut for all of his musical success\, Chinobay’s journey is not just a musical odyssey\, it is also a testament to the power of art to transform lives and bring about positive change. From teaching music and dance to formerly homeless children in Kampala\, to supporting internally displaced youth from Northern Uganda\, he is having immeasurable impact on the lives of vulnerable children. \nMax Ribner’s Resilient Beings Workshop \nThursday\, May 28th\, 2026 \nDoors 11:30 AM || Workshop Noon \nJoin the Choir!!!
