SUMMARY:Cole Chaney
DESCRIPTION:When it comes to his latest album\, In the Shadow of the Mountain\, 25-year-old singer-songwriter Cole Chaney is pretty candid and blunt about who he is and what kind of music he wants to make — the result of which\, this stunning offering from an artist wise beyond his age. \n“There’s a yin to every yang\,” Chaney says. “I want nothing more than for people to be creatively fulfilled\, and to do what they want. But\, for me to preach that? I have to practice it.” \nThat attitude resides at the core of the record\, where the trajectory of the songs seemingly — more so purposely — shoot off in the opposite direction of many of his contemporaries in the Americana\, country and folk music scenes. In truth? Chaney is summoning his rock roots. \n“I’m not concerned with being labeled as ‘country’.“There’s not a lot of music being released right now that is doing anything for me. I made something that I would want to listen to.” \nPointing to his lifelong admiration for 1990s rock — specifically Soundgarden\, Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots — as a vital influence on the sonic landscape of the album\, Chaney aimed to find a melodic balance between that raw and real rock sound and the bluegrass and folk music of his native Kentucky. \n“I wanted to make something that sounded like Ralph Stanley went in and got backed up by Soundgarden\,” Chaney jokes. “I write what I listen to. And whatever I listen to is going to come out in my music.” \nIn the Shadow of the Mountain was captured by famed producer Duane Lundy at his legendary studio in Lexington\, Kentucky. While talking at-length about the possible collaboration\, Lundy spoke of his love for Soundgarden\, Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots. \n“I know plenty of bluegrass guys that could have recorded this for me\,” Chaney says. “But\, I wanted to take that string band and folk sound and bring it to a rock producer\, to bring that big sound out of these acoustic instruments — [Duane] was about to do that.” \nThe album was also co-produced by guitarist Zachary Hamilton\, a close friend of Chaney\, who is also the brother and bandmate of rising Lexington singer-songwriter Abby Hamilton. \n“[Zach] has that ability to fill a room with his guitar\, his voicings\, and all the choices he goes for down the neck of the guitar\,” Chaney says. “When Abby was opening for us\, I got to sit there and watch him play every night. I knew when I was going to do another album\, he needed to be involved in some capacity.” \nHeading into the recording sessions\, Chaney brought along his band\, which included Ella Webster (fiddle)\, Kyle Kleinman (mandolin)\, Joel Murtaugh (upright bass) and James Gooding (drums). Acclaimed Kentucky musician (and former bandmate) Aaron Bibelhauser also makes an appearance. \nWith this pivot in his tone and intent compared to his 2021 debut album\, Mercy\, Chaney sees this current path as more in-tune with what he’s not only wanted to do all along\, but has slowly shifted towards in recent years amid endless touring and performing.

SUMMARY:GODSPELL Musical Theater - Completely Reimagined for Today
DESCRIPTION:Experience Godspell like you’ve never seen it before. In every generation\, a community gathers around a story that refuses to stay quiet. Staging Godspell in 2026 isn’t just an act of theater—it’s an act of hope. It’s a reminder that joy can still erupt in unexpected places\, even in a tent set up on a patch of Carolina ground. And to be honest\, we’ve always believed the Gospel lands best when there’s laughter and sawdust. Now\, more than ever\, the world needs its people to seek justice\, forgiveness\, hope\, and love using all available paths. The directors\, cast and crew are local and have many years of experience in theater and music and want to give you an inspiring experience that echoes the hope of the last weeks of spring that will literally surround the tent.

SUMMARY:George Terry & The Zealots: Album Release Show + Bob Dylan 85th Birthday Tribute set!
DESCRIPTION:GEORGE TERRY & THE ZEALOTS\nGeorge Terry AKA George Trouble sings with carefully crafted phrases and melodies. \nThe songs speak of populist\, mythic\, historical and personal stories. They weave an imaginative lyrical landscape with a wide palette\, ranging from folk\, punk\, rock\, rockabilly\, reggae and ska\, to surf and honest country blues. Featuring Aaron Price’s deft musicianship The Zealots offer an exquisite distillation of the American songbook. \nGT is releasing two records in 2026. His band\, The Zealots\, is proud to release their fifth record- “Entanglement”\, this spring on Bob Dylan’s 85th birthday at The Grey Eagle. \nThe band will play a set of Dylan and the new record as well. George’s second solo album is primarily acoustic and features “Dirty Side of Helene”\, a folk lament in the wake of the disaster. GT returns to touring in ’26 with a deeper conviction to sharing the narratives of all who navigate the recovery from Hurricane Helene.

SUMMARY:George Trouble & The Zealots-"Entanglement"-Release Party/Bob Dylan's 85th Birthday
DESCRIPTION:George Trouble & The Zealots are delighted to return to the Grey Eagle for a double-headed show on Sunday\, May 24th at The Grey Eagle. In addition to the release of their 6th album\, “Entanglement”\, GT & The Zealots reprise the tradition of celebrating Bob Dylan’s birth. Hurricane Helene stymied the production process of “Entanglement” as well as eliminating the possibilty of a Dylan show in 2025. In an ironic twist\, the two events have come together in a happy confluence-partially as a result of the chaos that reigned down upon the French Broad River in Fall 2024. The band includes longtime partner Aaron Price-keys\, Zack Page-bass\, and Evan Martin-drums (The Honeycutters). It’s gonna be one for the books!

SUMMARY:J & The Causeways
DESCRIPTION:STANDING ROOM ONLY\nJ & THE CAUSEWAYS \nNew Orleans soul/rock powerhouse ensemble J & The Causeways debut album\, Motions\, conjures a universal theme of togetherness and compassion — melodies and lyrics cultivated with a keen understanding of reaching one another through healing and transcendence. Singer and keyboardist Jordan Anderson leads with a soaring level of octave prowess and sonic range akin to that of other renowned soul acts like St. Paul & The Broken Bones or Brittany Howard. Captured by famed musicians/producers Robert Mercurio and Ben Ellman (both members of NOLA cosmic funk outfit Galactic) at Studio in the Country and Esplanade Studios\, Motions is a record soaked in the freewheelin’ ethos and sonic tones of a vibrant city that Anderson proudly calls home.

SUMMARY:Trousdale: Growing Pains (Deluxe) Tour
DESCRIPTION:STANDING ROOM ONLY \nTroufriends Ball VIP Experience includes:\n● One (1) GA ticket ● Invitation to the Troufriends Ball\, including: ● Meet & greet and photo opp with the band ● 2-song acoustic set ● Rehearsal for VIP in-show performance participation (from the audience) ● Exclusive VIP merch gifts ● 10% discount merch booth coupon\, redeemable at this show only ● Commemorative VIP laminate & lanyard ● Early entry into the venue ● Hassle-free merch shopping before doors open ● Limited availability \nTROUSDALE\nFor Trousdale—the trio of Quinn D’Andrea\, Georgia Greene\, and Lauren Jones—the ache of growing through change\, of facing down existential anxiety\, and matters of the heart are all intimately familiar. “We can acknowledge the strides we’ve made and be grateful\, but we’ve talked a lot about how tired we are\,” Jones says with a laugh. “We’ve been thinking a lot about the tension that comes with change\, wanting it\, fighting it\, embracing it\, but learning to thrive in that moment.” On Trousdale’s upcoming LP\, Growing Pains (due April 11th)\, the band works through those struggles to find strength\, courage\, and growth in each other. “From what was\, something new can always grow\,” D’Andrea says. \nOpening on a ripping electric guitar and bolstered by their trademark harmonies\, the title track and lead single perfectly encapsulates those feelings in the life of Trousdale. “I’m making it through the tough times when it feels like I’ve been burning out/ Trying to build up the muscle so the hustle doesn’t pull me down\,” they sing\, a limber bass line drawing each new syllable forward. The album was recorded largely live in the room and co-produced by the band and John Mark Nelson\, a songwriter who has also co-written and produced songs for Suki Waterhouse and Shaboozey\, as well as engineered tracks for the likes of Taylor Swift and Mitski. “This song was about what we feel every day in this band\,” Greene says. “Being exhausted but finding beauty together.” \nTrousdale’s debut album\, 2023’s Out of My Mind\, earned raves from the likes of the Boston Globe\, Consequence\, and Atwood Magazine for its powerful songwriting\, immaculate harmonies\, and ability to bridge gaps between country and indie pop. On Growing Pains\, the three songwriters evolved their style\, writing rough ideas on their own\, then refining and finishing them in the room together. “We’re all adding to each other’s ideas\, drawing from personal experiences and then expanding them into something more people can connect with\,” D’Andrea explains. \nverygently \nverygently is the collective spark of three established Nashville singer-songwriters—Drew Erwin\, Joey Hendricks\, and Tristan Bushman—who joined forces in early 2024 and quickly made noise with their debut EP DUMBA$$ MODE. Blending razor-sharp wit with open-hearted vulnerability\, the trio crafts harmony-driven indie rock that turns heartache into something anthemic. After touring alongside Ruston Kelly\, Augustana\, The Band Camino\, and The Fray\, they built a reputation for magnetic\, cathartic live shows fueled by airtight harmonies and undeniable chemistry.

SUMMARY:Tank and The Bangas: The Last Balloon Tour
DESCRIPTION:TANK AND THE BANGAS\nFor Tank and the Bangas\, music is a vessel for unbridled joy and transcendent connection—forces as integral to their essence as their wildly original sound. On their new album The Last Balloon\, the New Orleans-bred outfit channel those impulses into something celebratory yet profoundly human\, exploring themes of frustration\, resilience\, and self-realization with equal parts raw emotionality and playful exuberance. A shapeshifting collective helmed by lead singer Tarriona “Tank” Ball and multi-instrumentalist Norman Spence II\, the globally beloved group completed the LP after winning a GRAMMY for 2024’s spoken-word powerhouse The Heart\, The Mind\, The Soul\, moving from incendiary poetry to a euphoric collision of soul and hip-hop and forward-thinking R&B. As the final installment in a trilogy of albums that began with 2019’s Green Balloon (a critical triumph that earned them a GRAMMY nomination for Best New Artist)\, The Last Balloon ultimately solidifies Tank and the Bangas’ legacy as one of modern music’s most steadfast voices of sublime exhilaration. \nExecutive-produced by their frequent collaborator Austin Brown (Jamila Woods\, Masego)\, The Last Balloon offers up a suite of songs designed to thrive in Tank and the Bangas’ rapturous live set\, where unified movement becomes crucial to the show itself. “We’re known for a very interactive experience\, so I wanted to get the fans more involved and have even more fun with the crowd\,” says Ball. “There’s lots of gang vocals\, handclaps\, all these intentional moments to let everyone know\, ‘This is my part\, but your part’s coming up next—so get ready.’” A highly collaborative band whose past work has featured luminaries like Big Freedia\, Questlove\, and Jill Scott\, Tank and the Bangas created The Last Balloon with the help of Iman Omari (a multifaceted musician who’s worked with Kendrick Lamar and Mac Miller)\, pianist/producer Tane Runo (Brittany Howard\, JID)\, esteemed soul singers Ledisi and Jelly Joseph\, and many more. The result: a party-ready extravaganza that provides both ecstatic catharsis and communal elevation. \nARIEL J.\nAriel J. is an artist and former church musician born and raised in Mississippi\, whose music blends poetic storytelling\, soulful melodies\, and forward-thinking production to create a sound that teels both timeless and futuristic. She began singing and learning instruments as a child and started to perform at the age of five. At seventeen\, Ariel began writing songs and teaching herself to engineer her own music. \nRooted in R&B yet unbound by genre\, her work explores themes of resilience\, human connection\, and wonder in the face of rapid technological and cultural change. With every release\, Ariel J. seeks to spark reflection and empowerment\, inviting listeners into a world where creativity\, truth\, and hope lead the way. More than just music\, Ariel J’s mission is to remind people of their own power to imagine\, build\, and sustain a better future.

SUMMARY:An Evening With Patterson Hood (of Drive-By Truckers)
DESCRIPTION:PATTERSON HOOD Drive-By Truckers co-founder Patterson Hood’s fourth solo album and first in over 12 years\, Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams sees the veteran singer\, guitarist\, and songwriter exploring his youth and young manhood in a collection unlike anything in his ever-evolving catalogue. A baroque American song cycle spanning the time between early childhood and leaving his rural hometown in search of his musical dreams\, the album gathers songs that have amassed over the remarkably prolific songwriter’s career\, many of which provided him with distraction and creative sustenance during lockdown\, others which have resided among his notebooks for years. “This record has all these kinds of unintended themes\,” Hood says. “It’s all subconscious\, because I didn’t really set out with an agenda\, writing-wise. It really just kind of occurred to me when I was actually putting it all together\, just how much it seems to have a theme to it.” The dozen years since his last extracurricular outing\, 2012’s Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance\, had seen Hood accumulate a cache of material which did not quite fit into the Drive-By Truckers canon\, songs which he set aside for “if and when” he got around to another solo project. Kept off the road during the 2020 lockdown\, he found himself recording demos in his Portland\, OR attic\, without a clear plan but thinking “maybe this might be worth pursuing at some point.” Hood had moved to Portland with his family in 2013 and swiftly found a place among the Rose City’s thriving music scene\, including a friendship forged with producer/musician Chris Funk (The Decemberists). Having long discussed collaborating\, in 2023 the two artists’ typically stacked calendars finally allowed them the opportunity to team up and they set to work recording what Hood intended to be “a bigger departure” from Drive-By Truckers and his previous solo efforts than ever before. “The band has been in such a good place that I hadn’t really thought in terms of doing anything outside of the Truckers anytime soon\,” Hood says. “I decided if I ever was going to do another solo record\, I wanted it to be pretty different than the band\, as different as it can be.” Hood further took the occasion to explore sounds outside the boundaries and obligations of his day job\, deviating from Drive-By Truckers’ traditionally guitar-driven palette to craft richly textured arrangements marked by the inclusion of strings\, woodwinds\, and vintage analog synthesizers. With its powerful textural clarity and Hood’s literary strengths at the fore\, Exploding Trees & Airplane Screams emerges as a staggering investigation into how time can shed light on the recesses of memory\, revealing this exceptionally gifted songwriter’s resolute inclination to look back through the golden haze to grapple with the darkness and secret truths that perhaps weren’t understood or reckoned with at the time. As he has throughout his career – from Drive-By Truckers’ ceaseless investigation into American values and culture to his solo body of work’s autobiographical meditations – Exploding Trees and Airplane Screams sees Patterson Hood once again stripping away the facade of things to get to the core\, lifting up life’s rock to see what lies underneath.

SUMMARY:GALLERY WALK – NAN DAVIS\, ORIGINAL OIL ARTIST
DESCRIPTION:(FREE) The Gallery Walk in June will feature original oil artist Nan Davis. \nNan’s desire is to create beautiful paintings. With a degree in Art\, but a need for a steady income\, she worked in the corporate world for 25 years\, only painting on nights and weekends as time allowed. But for the past six years\, she has been able to paint full time\, gloriously spreading paint across blank canvases in awe of turning a feeling into a vision on a flat surface. Every day\, she returns to the canvas to play in color and light. She sees the light coming through foliage\, or the mountain vistas and she is called to create. Nan searches for a way to interpret something beautiful in a way that allows others to respond from their own experiences.
