SUMMARY:Photoshop Layers Made Easy! Two-Part Series
DESCRIPTION:Session One: The Mystery of “Layers” — a challenge for many who want to learn to use Adobe Photoshop! In reality\, layers are a great tool and easy to use\, plus they give you a wide range of adjustments to perfect your photographs!  This 2 part\, six-hour workshop will teach how to 1) choose and create “adjustment layers\,” 2) create masks to modify layers\, 3) add selected filters\, and 4) handle the layers in general. As we progress through the information\, you will follow along on your computer using the instructor’s sample images\, then work with your own. You will also receive an informative PDF handout containing key information that you learn in the class. NOTE: You may attend Session One only.\nSession Two: (You must have attended Session One to take part in this session): We’ll review Session One’s material — The Mystery of “Layers” — then view your sample images\, including your process using layers in Photoshop. Your images must be TIFF images. This will be a gentle session to review and reinforce your understanding of using layers.\nBring your laptop computer with Photoshop installed (you can get a trial copy if you don’t already own it.) Also\, have with you images that you would like to work on should be either RAW or TIFF (no JPEGs!).

SUMMARY:Joyride Improv Workshop: Winning Is for Losers
DESCRIPTION:June 20 & 21 | 1:00 – 4:00 PM | Story Parlor \nIn improv\, the moment you try to “win” the scene\, you often lose the thing that matters most: connection. \nThis two-day improv workshop focuses on letting go of control\, negotiation\, and performance instincts so you can create scenes that feel honest\, alive\, and deeply connected. Through exercises and scene work\, we’ll practice active listening\, playing from presence\, and discovering the scene together instead of forcing ideas onto it. \nPlayers can also look forward to personalized feedback and heavy side coaching from Stevie\, Joyride Improv Founder & Teacher. \nWe’ll explore:\n– Connection over conflict\n– Discovery over invention\n– Resisting the urge to negotiate\n– Seeking to be affected and authentic emotional responses\n– Finding the answer in your scene partner’s eyes \nWhen improvisers stop trying to win\, scenes become more surprising\, human\, and meaningful. The best scenes aren’t won—they’re shared\, collaboratively built\, and embodied.

SUMMARY:ENCOUNTERS WITH CREATIVES – JEFF RIPPLE\, ORIGINAL OIL ARTIST
DESCRIPTION:(FREE) Jeff Ripple will be on hand to share his methods in original oil painting and more. \nJeff is dedicated to a poetic realism in landscape painting inspired by intriguing compositions and fleeting moments of emotive light in nature. His style involves carefully planned drawings\, a reliance on sketches and studies painted in nature to inspire studio work\, and a focus on luminous atmosphere. Evidence of a human presence is often absent or subordinated in his landscapes. He sketches and paints regularly outdoors to create field studies that often focus on skies\, light on the landscape\, water\, trees\, rocks or really anything that interests him\, refining those ideas in the studio with a focus on atmosphere and achieving depth.

SUMMARY:Squirrel Nut Zippers: Celebrating 30 Years of “Hot”
DESCRIPTION:SQUIREL NUT ZIPPERS\nWhen Hot first hit the airwaves in 1996\, it didn’t just ignite excitement — it sparked a cultural bonfire. With its infectious blend of swing\, jazz\, Delta blues\, and Southern storytelling\, Hot rocketed Squirrel Nut Zippers from the underground scene of Chapel Hill\, NC\, to the national stage\, going Platinum and defining a generation’s rediscovery of vintage Americana. \nThe band’s breakout sophomore album captured lightning in a bottle. Recorded at the famed Kingsway Studio in New Orleans (owned by Daneil Lanois)\, the record radiated with authenticity. Featuring a warm\, analog sound\, paired with wry\, vivid storytelling\, the album topped the Billboard 200 charts for an impressive 51 weeks and included such standout tracks as “Put a Lid On It\,” “Blue Angel\,” and its biggest hit to-date “Hell.” \n“Hell\,” which at the time\, was considered an unlikely radio single\, topped the Alternative Airplay charts at #13 and has become a pivotal piece of pop culture as it continues to heat up the radio and TV airwaves\, appearing on alt rock and Americana stations and in such prominent television shows as Wednesday (2025) and Lucifer (2021). \nNow\, 30 years later\, the Zippers are celebrating the ever-lasting magic of Hot with the “In The Afterlife” tour\, where the band will play the record in its entirety. The 30th celebration of Hot is not just a look back — it’s a salute to resilience\, innovation\, and the enduring power of a band that never stopped evolving. \nFormed in 1993 by Jimbo Mathus\, Katharine Whalen\, and a tight-knit group of musical misfits\, Squirrel Nut Zippers defied genre from the start. Their sound — an intoxicating mix of prohibition-era jazz\, big band bravado\, and punk-rock irreverence — invited listeners into a world where vaudeville met voodoo and speakeasy swagger met Southern soul. \nLed by Mathus\, and managed by original drummer Chris Phillips\, the modern-day Zippers continue to honor that legacy while breathing new life into their beloved catalog. As the Squirrel Nut Zippers bring Hot back to the stage\, fans old and new are rediscovering what made the album — and the band — so unforgettable. Music that swings\, sings\, and sizzles with soul.
