DESCRIPTION:STANDING ROOM ONLY \nTESO ELLIS & FRIENDS\nTeso Ellis is an Indie singer songwriter out of Asheville\, North Carolina With a genre\, bending sound nostalgic of 90s alternative rock and classic soul\, driven by folky tones and Lofi hip-hop grooves. A vibe that is completely unique but somehow familiar. He released a renegade album called “the end” with a band called chilltonic and this album is nearly impossible to get your hands on\, unless you come out to one of his shows and ask him for it personally! That’s the definition of independent art. \nOVADYA \nO•VAD•YA has been playing before extremely diverse audiences for over 15 years… From opening for Eric Burdon and the\nAnimals\, to Piamenta (the “Israeli Jimi Hendrix”) and benefits\, to clubs to live radio\, from festivals to synagogues to intimate\ncoffeehouses. Their music has been featured on radio nationally and locally in both Chicago and Asheville (WXRT\, WNUR\, WBEZ\,\nWNUR\, WLUP\, WPVM and many more nationally)\, charting in CMJ & grabbing major (Polygram) label interest & indie label offers.\nPress on O•VAD•YA includes Chicago Sun Times affiliates\, Chicago Tribune\, Illinois Entertainer\, Yediot Ahoronot (Israel’s biggest\nnewspaper) and many other newspapers / periodicals. SUMMARY:Patio Show: Becks! Beacon\, and Abbie McAllister
DESCRIPTION:– LIMITED PATIO SEATING IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE \nBecks!\nBecks! is a queer singer-songwriter whose Appalachian roots ground their music to place\, while pushing the envelope of what it means to ‘belong’ in the folk and old time scenes. Their family history of union organizing and three generations of ‘card-carrying communists’ bring an edge to their live performances that ties the history of the Appalachian region and their family’s history along with it. \nAbbie McAllister\nRural West Virginia-based singer-songwriter Abbie McAllister began her musical journey singing in family church choirs and on the porches of small local businesses— her music obsession fueled by the natural sounds of home and history. With her sound that blends soft rock\, grunge\, and blues with appalachian roots\, she has gained attention as an up-and-coming artist with new pathways for music and inspiration. \nBeacon\nBeacon is the hard-hitting rock fusion project of North Carolina musician Alvin Carlisle. The music is based in leftist political messaging\, ecstatic improvisation\, and the fusion of Black American genres into an enrapturing show.

SUMMARY:Noah Rinker
DESCRIPTION:STANDING ROOM ONLY \nNOAH RINKER\nIt’s place and perspective that drive 23-year-old musician Noah Rinker’s sound. It propels his lyricism and informs his entire point of view. Growing up in the mountains of California\, he found song wherever he could. He picked up the guitar at 14\, learning to play it like a lap steel because he assumed the fretboard might work the same way a keyboard did. At 16\, he wrote his first song. But it was “leaving for sessions with other collaborators that made me realize that home was the thing that made me who I was all along.”\nYou see that connection between song and soul in his videos: Noah\, a guitar\, and the place he grew up. Sometimes you’ll see the mountains sprawled out behind him as he plays; other times\, he’s cloaked in darkness\, only lit by a crackling campfire. There are covers mixed in with originals; snippets of works-in-progress tossed in\, paired with months-in-the-making singles he’s on the cusp of releasing. The music is real\, it’s raw\, and it’s Noah Rinker distilled and at his truest essence. Songs like “Save My Soul” and “Wherever I Go” and “99” introduce the world to a storyteller doing what he does best—digging deep\, baring his soul\, and laying it out on the page for just a few minutes of honest connection.

SUMMARY:Sister Act - Flat Rock Playhouse - 10/2-10/25
DESCRIPTION:When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a crime\, she hides out in the last place anyone would look — a convent. Suddenly\, the sequins are swapped for habits\, and the nightclub turns into a nave. But when Deloris brings her unholy amount of soul to the choir loft\, heaven gets a whole new groove. \nSister Act is a holy-rolling\, soul-lifting celebration of sisterhood\, second chances\, and songs that raise the roof. As Deloris helps the sisters find their voices\, they just might change her heart in return. \nPart divine comedy\, part disco revival\, it’s proof that a little funk — and a lot of faith — can turn any sanctuary into a showstopper. \nEvent Times: 2:00 PM & 7:30 PM

SUMMARY:Arabian Tribal Culture - Sufra Time at Mocha Box Coffeehouse
DESCRIPTION:For centuries\, tribal culture has shaped life across Arabia—not simply as a way of tracing ancestry\, but as a powerful system of identity\, belonging\, protection and responsibility. \nIn Arabian Tribal Culture\, part of Sufra Time: An Immersive Arabian Dining Journey\, you’ll step inside a social world built upon extended family\, loyalty\, honor and obligation. Discover how tribal communities have preserved history through poetry and oral storytelling\, resolved disputes through respected mediators\, protected travelers and transformed hospitality into a sacred responsibility. \nYou’ll also explore the complex relationship between tribal traditions and modern Arabian life. Far from being merely a relic of the past\, tribal identity continues to influence relationships\, leadership\, community decision-making and the ways people understand their responsibilities to one another. \nThe evening reveals a striking kinship between Arabia and Appalachia. Both regions were shaped by rugged mountains\, geographic isolation\, strong family networks and communities that often depended upon one another more than distant institutions. In both cultures\, family names carry history\, stories preserve identity\, music belongs to the community and welcoming a guest reflects the character of the entire household. \nThrough dramatic storytelling\, vivid imagery\, Arabian food and lively audience participation\, Arabian Tribal Culture invites you to look beyond stereotypes and encounter the deeply human values at the heart of tribal life. \nCome discover a culture in which belonging carries responsibility\, hospitality carries honor and no person stands entirely alone.

SUMMARY:Sister Sadie & the Kittredge Arts Center Grand Reopening
DESCRIPTION:On Friday October 2nd at 7 PM\, Warren Wilson College celebrates the grand reopening of Kittredge Arts Center\, with renowned Bluegrass act Sister Sadie headlining! The Kittredge Arts Center grand reopening is part of the Warren Wilson College’s 2026 Homecoming\, and is also a homecoming for Sister Sadie’s mandolinist\, WWC alum’ Rainy Miatke (Music Major\, Class of 2025). \nTickets can be purchased here: https://wwc-ventures.ticketspice.com/sister-sadie-and-the-kittredge-arts-center-grand-reopening \nFor more information abuot the event\, please contact Dr. Jason DeCristofaro at jdecristofaro@warren-wilson.edu or (828)545-3916. \nSister Sadie Bio: \nWhat started as an accidental band became a force. GRAMMY-nominated. IBMA-decorated. Opry-validated. But for all the\naccolades\, they were often reduced to one line: an all-female bluegrass band. True—but never the point. Sister Sadie has always\nbeen about the music. The fire. The truth. \nTheir new album\, All Will Be Well\, is that truth—loud\, fearless\, and free. You’ll hear echoes of bluegrass\, but what rises is\nsomething bigger: country with claws\, Americana with muscle\, gospel grit and raw storytelling. \nFrom the haunting “Prodigal Daughter” to the swagger of “Do What You Want” and the aching beauty of “If I Don’t Have You\,”\nthese six women are not performing roles—they’re telling you who they are. \nThis is Sister Sadie\, evolved: bold\, bonded\, and braver than ever. They’re not asking for space. They’re taking it. \nAnd they’re just getting started. \nAbout Kittredge Arts Center: \nNestled within the beautiful\, historic Warren Wilson College campus\, the Kittredge Arts Center provides a centralized location for the arts at WWC and WNC. The Center features the 321-seat Kittredge Theater and 80-seat Williams Recital Hall\, where music and performance events are featured throughout the year. Kittredge Arts Center is also available as a rental space to organizations looking for an affordable option in a beautiful location for conferences\, business retreats\, and other events. \nFor more information\, please contact Dr. Jason DeCristofaro (Assistant Professor of Music\, Music Department Chair\, and Director of Kittredge Arts Center) at 828-545-3916 or jdecristofaro@warren-wilson.edu

SUMMARY:The Art of Presence: Meditation and Reflection in the Museum
DESCRIPTION:Step into the Museum’s galleries before the doors open for a quiet and contemplative morning of meditation\, mindful walking\, and reflection. This guided experience invites participants to slow down\, settle the nervous system\, and explore the Museum as a place of sanctuary\, spaciousness\, and renewal. \nThe session will begin with a brief seated meditation\, followed by a walking meditation through selected exhibits. Along the way\, participants will pause with gentle mindfulness prompts designed to support personal reflection\, embodied awareness\, and a deeper connection with the artwork. Rather than offering art historical interpretation\, the experience encourages each participant to notice what arises within them through presence\, stillness\, and mindful seeing. The group will honor noble silence throughout much of the session with occasional opportunities for brief reflection and sharing. No previous meditation experience is needed. \nJoin Joshua on August 22\, October 3\, November 7\, and December 5. \nJoshua Canter is a mindfulness meditation teacher and the founder of True Nature Travels and Education\, an Asheville-based organization that has offered transformative retreats and educational experiences around the world for more than 20 years. He holds a master’s degree in Contemplative Psychology and is passionate about making mindfulness accessible\, grounded\, and relevant to everyday life.

SUMMARY:PATIO SHOW: Hillside Ramblers
DESCRIPTION:– LIMITED PATIO SEATING IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE\nHILLSIDE RAMBLERS \nThe Hillside Ramblers are a multi-generational folk trio from Asheville\, NC\, who first met as neighbors. They craft a combination of voices and instruments rooted in New England folk\, Appalachian bluegrass\, and traditional jazz. Deborah Silverstein spent decades as an award-winning singer-songwriter on the Boston folk scene\, writing and performing original songs that linger with the audience long after the show ends. Her songs engage honestly with the full spectrum of the human experience\, inviting listeners to feel the highs and lows in equal measure. Chris Cotteta delivers vocals and plays lead guitar with an energy that moves freely between country\, folk\, and jazz. He adds the same thoughtful touches to songs written a hundred years ago as to ones written yesterday. Maria Raiti plays upright bass and soulfully sings covers and originals. She also leads the prominent local bluegrass/Americana band\, Asheville Junction. Together they blend their eclectic backgrounds and styles into a sound tapestry of musical harmony and storytelling that feels all at once fascinating\, fresh\, and as familiar as your front porch.

Born to Madeiran parents in Guernsey\, she grew up between languages\, between islands\, between identities. Maybe that’s why her work sits in the in-between: not folk\, not pop\, not confessional\, not theatre\, but something raw and unguarded\, carried by a voice that doesn’t hide from itself. \nHer songs lean into the dark\, not for drama but for honesty. The grief\, the doubt\, the ache of trying to belong in your own life. She follows feeling where it goes\, not where it’s supposed to go. And in doing so\, she finds light that hasn’t been polished\, only earned. \nHer debut album\, Diamonds & Demons\, was born from upheaval and built with community support\, a record of fragile hope and stubborn resistance. It quietly found its people\, carrying her across continents and into rooms where listeners come not to escape\, but to remember themselves. \nOffstage\, Nessi has spent the last decade working with the voice as a place to meet emotion and truth\, influenced by her background in Creative Expressive Therapies and voice-based therapeutic work. It’s not performance training. It’s more like tending to the parts that don’t speak in sentences. Over the years\, thousands have joined her workshops and retreats\, not in search of perfection\, but presence. \nNow\, she’s in a season of returning to the source\, writing\, unravelling\, listening. New songs are taking shape\, bruised and luminous\, cracked-open and steady\, refusing simple answers. \nNessi sings like someone trying to stay real in a world full of masks. \nShe writes for the ones who feel too much and keep going anyway. \nAll ages\nTicket Pricing from: Show – $34.72; Workshop $67.79; Concert + Workshop Bundle\n$100.85\nEnding Time is an estimate\nTickets only sold through DICE. SUMMARY:Luna w/ Sister Ray Davies
DESCRIPTION:STANDING ROOM ONLY \nLUNA\nLuna was a New York band formed in 1991 by singer/guitarist Dean Wareham after the breakup of Galaxie 500. The band made seven studio albums before disbanding in 2005. After a ten-year break\, they reunited and toured in 2015\, and in 2017 released a new LP — A Sentimental Education and an EP of instrumentals — A Place of Greater Safety. \nOther recent reissues include a deluxe 2xLP version of their classic Penthouse album (on Rhino) and another 2xLP set Lunafied that collects all the covers the band recorded in the 1990s. \nNow scattered around the country (Los Angeles\, New York and Austin) the band retains the same lineup that operated from 1999 to 2005: Dean Wareham on vocals/guitar\, his wife Britta Phillips on bass\, Sean Eden on guitar\, and Lee Wall on drums. \nA Luna Timeline: \n1992. Dean Wareham recruits Justin Harwood (ex-Chills) on bass and Stanley Demeski (ex-Feelies) on drums to record Lunapark for Elektra Records. After completing the album\, the band places an ad in the Village Voice and thus adds Sean Eden on guitar. Eden\, who is Canadian by birth and a trained actor\, plays lead guitar on the excellent Indian Summer EP (aka the Slide EP). \n1993. The band records their second album\, Bewitched\, featuring “California\,” “Tiger Lily” and “Friendly Advice.” \n1995 Luna’s classic third album\, Penthouse (1995) is recorded in New York City\, featuring guests Tom Verlaine (Television) and Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab). The band signs to Beggar’s Banquet in Europe. Rolling Stone calls it “one of the essential recordings of the ‘90s” \n1997 Lee Wall replaces the travel-weary Stanley Demeski on drums\, and the band records Pup Tent\, their fourth album for Elektra. \n1998 Luna recorded their fifth album The Days of Our Nights. \n1999 Justin Harwood moves back to his home country (New Zealand)\, and is replaced on bass by Britta Phillips. \n2000 finding themselves between contracts\, the band quickly records a live album — Luna Live! for the Arena Rock label. \n2002 the band sign to Jetset Records\, record Romantica\, co-produced by Gene Holder (DB’s) and Dave Fridmann (Mercury Rev). Romantica was followed by the mini-LP Close Cover Before Striking. \n2004 Luna record their Rendezvous album in Brooklyn\, NY. Produced by Bryce Goggin with minimal overdubs\, it captures the band more-or-less live. \n2005 After a farewell tour\, on February 28 the band play their last show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom. \n2015 After ten years away\, the band announces a commemorative world tour. The lineup is the exact ’99-’05 group: Dean Wareham and Sean Eden on guitar\, Lee Wall on drums\, and Britta Phillips (now married to Mr Wareham) on bass. \nSISTER RAY DAVIES \nSister Ray Davies is a brilliantly named new duo formed by Adam Morrow and Jamie Sego. They might be based in Muscle Shoals\, Alabama\, but their acclaimed debut album Holy Island (released in November 2025 via Sonic Cathedral and Well Kept Secret) is a concept record about the ancient religious outpost off the coast of northeast England.
