SUMMARY:2 DAY INTRODUCTION TO INDIGO & SHIBORI DYING WORKSHOP WITH DIANE KUEHN - DAY 2
DESCRIPTION:Shibori is a Japanese method of resist dying which goes back hundreds of years. Indigo dye is often used to get the distinctive patterns you may recognize in today’s fashion and home décor fabrics. \nIn this hands-on two-day workshop\, artist Diane Kuehn will share the fundamentals of shibori folding and binding techniques to create beautiful patterns on fabric with indigo dye. We will also learn to prepare an indigo vat and how to prepare fabric to dye with scouring techniques. Students can expect to make pillow or napkin sized sample pieces and a cotton scarf. An additional small piece of clothing to upcycle can be brought from home.

For Anne\, creating a pastel begins with what you cannot see. What is drawing me to this subject? What is the story I want to tell? What am I trying to express in each painting? No fear is allowed to enter the process behind the easel\, and all elements of the composition must work in unity. She has been working with pastels for over 20 years\, utilizing her formal education\, experience in fashion and textile design and more to create incredible pastels full of energy.
