SUMMARY:"No Child" at NC Stage
DESCRIPTION:No Child is a tour-de-force exploration of the New York City public school system. An insightful\, hilarious and touching master class not to be missed by anyone who is concerned about the state of our education system and how we might fix it. The play\, inspired by Sun’s own experiences as a teaching artist\, focuses on the lives of students and their struggles\, rather than the No Child Left Behind Act\, despite the title’s reference. The play utilizes humor and poignant moments to portray the students’ environment and their resilience in the face of adversity. \nRegular Adult Tickets: $24-$48 (depending on chosen seat)\nStudent Tickets: $10 (18 and under/ college and graduate students with student ID)\nWednesdays\, Thursdays\, Saturdays: 7:30pm ; Sundays: 2pm\nFirst Friday (5/1): 7:30pm ; last two Fridays (5/8 & 5/15): 2pm\nOpening Week “Choose Your Price” Nights: April 9th – May 1st

SUMMARY:"Tiny Beautiful Things" at NC Stage
DESCRIPTION:Based on the bestselling book by Cheryl Strayed and adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos\, Tiny Beautiful Things personifies the questions and answers that “Sugar” was publishing online from 2010-2012. When the struggling writer was asked to take over the unpaid\, anonymous position of advice columnist\, Strayed used empathy and her personal experiences to help those seeking guidance for obstacles both large and small. \nTiny Beautiful Things is a play about reaching when you’re stuck\, healing when you’re broken\, and finding the courage to take on the questions that have no answers. \nContent Advisory: Like the best advice\, Tiny Beautiful Things doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff. This production contains explicit language and mature discussions on child abuse\, sexual assault\, and suicide. \nRegular Adult Tickets: $24-$48 (depending on chosen seat)\nStudent Tickets: $10 (18 and under/ college and graduate students with student ID)\nWednesdays\, Thursdays\, Saturdays: 7:30pm ; Sundays: 2pm\nFirst Friday (20th): 7:30pm ; last two Fridays (27th & 3rd): 2pm\nOpening Week “Choose Your Price” Nights: March 18th – March 20th

SUMMARY:Random Act Productions Presents "A Christmas Carol" at NC Stage
DESCRIPTION:Join us at NC Stage for Random Act Productions’ “A Christmas Carol: A Play With Music” December 11th – December 21st \nExperience Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL the way it was intended. \nFrom 1853 to 1870\, Dickens gave public readings of his story\, touring America and Great Britain — even going so far as to develop the characters and voices for his performances. A CHRISTMAS CAROL is a classic story that is meant to be heard and performed in front of audiences of all ages.\nThis adaptation of A CHRISTMAS CAROL stays true to that original intention. Entirely Dickens’ text\, the play is woven throughout with live music as an actor (and his trusty musician) brings all of the characters to life in vivid detail. A story of redemption and the power of the holiday spirit\, it is also a celebration of the theatre\, where virtuosic acting and a commitment to the power of storytelling brings us all closer together — and to the Christmas spirit in all of us. \nWednesday – Saturday: 7:30pm\, Sunday: 2pm\, + additional show Friday the 19th at 2pm \nAll tickets on a sliding scale from $10-$45

SUMMARY:Tired Souls: King and the Montgomery Bus Boycott
DESCRIPTION:Written and Performed by Award-Winning Playwright and Actor\, Mike Wiley\nCo-presented by NC Stage and the YMI Cultural Center\n*Please note: All performances of Tired Souls will take place at the YMI Cultural Institute at 39 S. Market St. Downtown Asheville* \nTired Souls opens in Montgomery\, Alabama on December 1\, 1955 – the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a city bus to a white man. Her determination was the catalyst that inspired Montgomery’s black citizens to abandon all travel on city buses until they were no longer forced to sit in the back or stand when a white person boarded. But there were others who came before Mrs. Parks and laid the groundwork for this pivotal moment. Tired Souls introduces audiences to Jo Ann Robinson\, Claudette Colvin\, and others so instrumental in lighting a fire under the Civil Rights movement and changing the course of U.S. history forever. \nJoin us for a Q&A with playwright and performer Mike Wiley following each performance.
