SUMMARY:"Misery" at NC Stage
DESCRIPTION:Paul Sheldon has survived the crash — but he’s not sure that’s a good thing. \nRescued from a Colorado snowbank by his self-proclaimed number one fan\, the bestselling romance novelist finds himself bedridden and dependent on Annie Wilkes\, a devoted reader who offers to nurse Paul back to health. When Annie discovers that Paul has killed off her favorite character in his latest manuscript\, his situation goes from dire to something much worse. Based on Stephen King’s novel and adapted for the stage by William Goldman\, Misery is a white-knuckle battle of wills between a captive and his captor…and a darkly funny question about what we owe the people who love our work. \nRegular Adult Tickets: $27-$54 (depending on chosen seat) \nStudent Tickets: $15 (18 and under/ college and graduate students with student ID) \nWednesdays\, Thursdays\, Saturdays: 7:30pm ; Sundays: 2pm \nFirst Friday (10/16): 7:30pm ; last two Fridays (10/23 & 10/30): 2pm \nAdditional matinees on the last two Saturdays (10/24 & 10/31): 2pm \nOpening Week “Choose Your Price” Nights: October 14th – 16th

SUMMARY:Mike Wiley Productions presents “Changing Same”
DESCRIPTION:*Please note: All performances will take place at the YMI Cultural Center at 39 S. Market St. Downtown Asheville* \nOn July 8\, 1944\, Private Booker T. Spicely boarded a bus in downtown Durham but never made it back to camp. The Black soldier\, newly stationed at a nearby Army base and unfamiliar with the South’s Jim Crow laws\, was shot twice in the chest by the bus driver after a dispute over his seat. The driver reboarded the bus and continued his route. An all-White jury later acquitted him in 28 minutes. \nAward-winning playwright and performer Mike Wiley brings Spicely\, the driver\, and a chorus of witnesses back to life in this searing solo show — excavating a story that faded from public memory in a city known for its progressive views\, visionary Black entrepreneurs\, and institutes of higher learning. \nJoin Mike Wiley for a Q&A following each performance. \nGeneral Admission Adult Tickets: $35\nStudent Tickets: $15 (18 and under/ college and graduate students with student ID)\nWednesdays\, Thursdays\, Fridays\, Saturdays: 7:30pm ; Sundays: 2pm\n“Choose Your Price” Nights: Wednesdays & Thursdays (11/4-11/5 & 11/11-11/12)

SUMMARY:"Primary Trust" at NC Stage
DESCRIPTION:Kenneth has his routine\, and his routine suits him just fine. Bookstore by day\, mai-tais at his favorite tiki bar by night — what more could a person need? \nWhen Kenneth is unexpectedly laid off\, the walls of the life he’s carefully constructed start to close in\, and he’s forced to reckon with everything he’s been quietly avoiding: connection\, vulnerability\, and the terrifying possibility of something new. Winner of the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for Drama\, Eboni Booth’s Primary Trust is funny\, precise\, and quietly devastating — a play about what it costs to keep the world at arm’s length\, and what it might feel like to finally let it in. \nRegular Adult Tickets: $27-$54 (depending on chosen seat)\nStudent Tickets: $15 (18 and under/ college and graduate students with student ID)\nWednesdays\, Thursdays\, Saturdays: 7:30pm ; Sundays: 2pm\nFirst Friday (3/26): 7:30pm ; last two Fridays (4/2 & 4/9): 2pm\nAdditional matinees on the last two Saturdays (4/3 & 4/10): 2pm\nOpening Week “Choose Your Price” Nights: March 24th – 26th

Buckminster Fuller — futurist\, philosopher\, poet\, architect of the geodesic dome\, artist of accelerations — to see how we already have everything we need to save the planet\, if we just “think different” about how we are Operating Spaceship Earth! \nRegular Adult Tickets: $27-$54 (depending on chosen seat)\nStudent Tickets: $15 (18 and under/ college and graduate students with student ID)\nWednesdays\, Thursdays\, Saturdays: 7:30pm ; Sundays: 2pm\nFirst Friday (5/7): 7:30pm ; last two Fridays (5/14 & 5/21): 2pm\nAdditional matinees on the last two Saturdays (5/15 & 5/22): 2pm\nOpening Week “Choose Your Price” Nights: May 5th – 7th
