DESCRIPTION:ALL AGES\nSEATED SHOW\nLIMITED NUMBER OF PREMIUM SEATING TICKETS\nSHAWN MULLINS \nAfter a series of indie releases and growing buzz in the Atlanta music scene\, Shawn Mullins’ critical and commercial breakthrough came when 1998 Soul’s Core shot him to fame on the strength of Grammy-nominated No. 1 hit\, “Lullaby” followed by AAA/Americana No. 1 hit “Beautiful Wreck” from 2006’s 9th Ward Pickin’ Parlor. His song\, “Shimmer” was used in promotion of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and was included on the Dawson’s Creek soundtrack. His co-write “All in My Head” from 2008’s Honeydew was featured in episode one of the hit TV sitcom “Scrubs.” Mullins also co-wrote the Zac Brown Band’s No. 1 country tune “Toes.” In early 2002\, he formed supergroup The Thorns with Matthew Sweet and Pete Droge. “No Blue Sky” from the resulting album\, is a modern day classic. For the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough album\, Shawn revisited the music of Soul’s Core by recording two new versions of the album. He calls this Soul’s Core Revival. This is not a remix or a remaster of the original\, but rather brand new recordings with new arrangements of the songs – one album is stripped down solo performances\, some on guitar\, some on piano and maybe one a cappella and the second is a new studio recording with his full band\, Soul Carnival.

Made with her close-knit circle of collaborators\, A Sign In The Weather both echoes the homespun nature of its creation and signals a powerful evolution in her one-of-a-kind artistry. \nCo-produced by White and Ross Farbe (a New Orleans-based producer/songwriter/musician who’s also worked with Esther Rose and Drugdealer)\, A Sign In The Weather marks a departure from the more lavish scale of Among Other Things—a 2023 release produced by Jonathan Wilson (Angel Olsen\, Father John Misty) and recorded with esteemed musicians like Big Thief guitarist Buck Meek. This time around\, White joined forces with her longtime bandmate Patrick M’Gonigle (on fiddle) and local musicians like drummer Sam Gelband\, bassist Gina Leslie\, guitarist Nick Corson\, and vocalist Maddy Kirgo\, dreaming up a nuanced yet potent sound that spotlights the singular character of her enchanting vocals and graceful guitar work. Also featuring contributions from Farbe (on guitar\, percussion\, organ\, and synth)\, pianist Duncan Troast\, and Nashville-based pedal-steel player Nikolai Shveitser\, A Sign In The Weather ultimately brings a bold new energy to the sophisticated musicality White first cultivated by taking up guitar at age eight (thanks in part to the influence of her father\, a Virginia-born bluegrass musician who raised her on classic country and old-time music). \nThe latest installment in a catalog that began with her 2021 debut album Just Like Leaving\, A Sign In The Weather also uncovers new layers of White’s soul-searching songwriting—an element praised by major outlets like Rolling Stone and NPR (who stated that “Sometimes the minute you hear a voice\, you know it’s for the ages”). “New Orleans is such a musical city\, and the experience of being around a lot of songwriters in particular has been so inspiring to me\,” she notes. With its subtle interplay of poetic introspection and stream-of-consciousness outpouring\, the album embodies a raw urgency that stems from White’s real-time processing of a period of intense change. To that end\, A Sign In The Weather takes its title from one of the first songs written for LP: “Without Making A Sound\,” an in-the-moment reflection on the painful confusion of letting go and moving on. “Right around when I decided to move I also ended a relationship—it felt like a chapter of my life was closing\, and I was experiencing a lot of sadness and guilt and other big feelings\,” White recalls. “When I wrote that song I was traveling somewhere that’s usually very warm\, but it was like the gray gloominess of the Pacific Northwest had followed me there. It felt like it brought everything full circle to make that the album title\, especially because making the choice to shake up my life really opened the floodgates for all the songs to come.”

They perform in various styles from the era as a string band and are influenced by nothing other than the old 78 records that they love so well. Their main influences include New Orleans jazz\, southwestern fiddle music\, classic banjo rags\, black string band music\, hillbilly harmonies and unique vocals. The trio consists of Ethan Francis\, Candra Edwards and Elliot Kennedy who all currently reside in Portland Oregon. The couple\, also known as “Stone and Sue” have been playing music together for a decade and met Kennedy who joined them 6 years ago. The three are inseparable and spend all of their time picking apart old tunes\, listening to 78s\, throwing shows in Portland and traveling around the country together. \nVaiano’s Paisanos\, the string band\, founded by Rachel Meirs (violin\, mandolin); Maxwell Apra(mandolin\, tenor banjo\, tenor guitar); and Van Burchfield (guitar)—which sometimes balloons to a quintet\, thanks to Quentin Bardinet (mandolin\, tenor banjo\, tenor guitar) and Albanie Faletta (guitar)—is a melting pot of old- instrumentation\, with international repertoire gathered from recordings made in New York City. Though the musicians in the band met busking in New Orleans\, fiddler in chief Meirs\, now based in Louisville\, KY\, first encountered some of the recordings that inspired this project while working at the Jalopy Theatre over a decade ago. Following in the grand tradition of musical discovery and dissemination by Jalopy Records labelmate and musicological genius Pat Conte\, curator of the acclaimed Secret Museum archival reissue series\, Vaiano’s Paisanos’ repertoire consists of the masterful melodies immigrants would’ve been humming along and dancing to in the late ’20s and early ’30s. Think Cape Verdean fiddle tunes\, Italian mandolin music\, pre-Belafonte Calypsos\, and Venezuelan waltzes. “Almost everything in our repertoire was originally recorded in New York City\,” explains Meirs. “It’s not that we chose to play immigrant music; it’s that we come from a society largely made up of immigrants\, and this music is a beautiful byproduct of that melting pot\, as are we.” We owe our gratitude to the musicians who originally composed\, played\, and eventually recorded this music\, who all came from different countries and traditions\, and all recorded in New York in the 1920’s and 30’s. Of course\, we would not have heard any of these songs if not for the people who seek out and and collect old 78’s\, and who found ways to share what was on them\, so that they eventually made their way to our ears in compilations\, blog posts\, discord channels\, youtube videos\, or a CD burned and sent in the mail.

The listener is welcomed into some gothic mansion on an imaginary New Orleans street\, and there in the lamplit parlor confronts the band\, a minimalist skeleton crew: Smither’s inimitable propulsive guitar and rumbling baritone are joined seamlessly to producer David Goodrich’s carpetbag of instruments\, Zak Trojano’s rock-steady\, primal drumming\, BettySoo’s diaphanous harmony vocals\, and the flat\, mournful flood of Jazz legend Chris Cheek’s saxophone. Recorded at Sonelab Studios in Easthampton MA by Justin Pizzoferrato (Sonic Youth\, Dinosaur Jr.\, the Hold Steady) All About the Bones has a feel that is somehow baroque and austere at once. Smither and his longtime producer David Goodrich have been refining their musical conversation for decades\, both in the studio and onstage\, and by now\, their bond verges on the telepathic. Goodrich plays on nearly every track. His sound is by now so translucent that it seems to function as a swath of silence\, allowing the songs to burn like ciphers in the crackling air. And oh\, the songs on All About the Bones. Chris Smither\, after six decades of sharpening his knife as a songwriter\, can at this point open damn near anything with a flick of his wrist. God and the Devil are opened here. Mortality is too. Politics\, consciousness\, renewal\, family\, vulnerability\, surrender… Smither has sat with these topics like so many Zen koans\, for so long\, that every line is a pearl. The title track\, “All About the Bones\,” kicks the record off with “Consider your high station/ think about your fame. All of your creation depended on your frame.” Irony\, wit\, the double meaning of “depended”… each verse is a master class in songwriting. Yet the stark\, elemental sage always has a twinkle in his eye\, a light touch at your elbow as he guides you along. From the wickedly funny defense of the Adversary in “If Not for the Devil” to the unsentimental open-heartedness of “Still Believe in You\,” he is as human as we all long to be. The disjointed imagery of “In the Bardo” and the dystopian mirror of “Close the Deal” find Smither unflinchingly staring down the mortality of both individuals and republics\, and yet he is at peace\, among loved ones in his cover of Eliza Gilkyson’s “Calm Before the Storm\,” and turning his gaze to the future in “Completion”. As noted by the New York Times\, Rolling Stone\, MOJO\, NPR\, and others\, in the decades of travels to All About the Bones\, Chris Smither has gone from up-and-comer to journeyman to veteran to icon\, and yet the whole time his path has more closely resembled Joseph Campbell’s “Hero with a Thousand Faces”- an unblinking\, fearless trek into the depths of struggle and revelation\, and a return back to the land of the living\, to share the hard-won treasures found along the way. His restlessness is long gone\, and his eyes are fixed “where the moonlight falls on some never-to-be-seen horizon” (“Still Believe in You”). The light given off from his music casts our own lives into a sublime and welcome clarity.

The record confirmed to both audiences and critics that Boogarins were more than just a promise\, consolidating them as one of the most important Brazilian rock bands of their generation. \nRecorded in the coastal city of Gijón\, in northern Spain\, “Manual” was made during a one-month break in the middle of the band’s first international tour—which included over 100 shows across cities in the United States\, Europe\, and Brazil. Unlike their debut album\, recorded at home with a more lo-fi aesthetic\, the songs on “Manual” were born and developed on the road\, during live performances\, and were captured in a fully analog studio. The recording process preserved the energy of four young musicians living the dream of traveling the world and making a living from music\, while simultaneously developing a new language for Brazilian psychedelic rock. \nDOOM GONG\nFormed in 2022 in Louisville\, Kentucky by 7 music school nerds\, DOOM GONG has made a name for themselves internationally with their own home-baked genre\, Denim Psych – a hodgepodge of psychedelic rock\, jazz fusion\, prog rock\, bedroom pop\, lo-fi\, contemporary classical music\, as well as blood\, sweat\, and a lot of denim. \nSILVER DOORS\nFormed in 2022\, The Silver Doors is a psychedelic rock band from Asheville\, NC. Channeling through the lens of the Appalachian mountains\, they tap into shoegaze\, blues\, psych\, and krautrock\, all with electric violin as the center point. They released their debut album in 2024 that was recorded\, mixed\, and mastered at Drop of Sun Studios with Alex Farrar and Lawson Alderson. Since then\, they have shared the stage with regional and touring bands\, hit the road with their own tour up the east coast\, and begun honing a new collection of sounds and songs all the while.

DESCRIPTION:Abe Reid is a North Carolina musician and one of the modern keepers of the Piedmont roots music tradition. Born in Forsyth County and raised in Statesville\, Reid began playing guitar at a young age\, developing a deep connection to the region’s historic finger-style traditions.\nHis musical education came directly from the source. As a young player\, he spent time with legendary Carolina musicians Guitar Gabriel and Cootie Stark\, learning not only guitar technique but also the storytelling and spirit behind traditional American music. \nIn the 1990s\, Reid immersed himself in the life of a working musician\, busking on the streets of New Orleans before returning to North Carolina’s music scene. He later helped form the roots band The Blue Rags\, known for energetic performances and traditional sounds. \nReid gained international recognition when he won the International Blues Challenge in Memphis—becoming the first solo performer to win the competition. \nToday\, Abe Reid continues to perform\, teach\, and share the music of the American South\, passing on knowledge learned from older musicians and decades on the road.

Grounded in the pre-war era of the blues tradition (1880-1939)\, Todd is a mindful purveyor of blues history. His repertoire upholds musical pillars such as Blind Willie McTell\, George Carter\, Blind Lemon Jefferson and Leadbelly. His life’s work continues\nthe distinguished tradition of the very roots of American music as told by the African American musicians who created it. Todd Albright joined Jack White’s Third Man Records in 2016. \nTodd’s vigorous\, gritty and soulful performances are accompanied by stories of the masters and a deep intuitive sense of respect for craft\, providing audiences with a meaningful experience while creating a transcendent moment. One of the top blues guitarists in the world\, Todd is the only contemporary twelve string player in his genre. \nTodd began playing the blues while still a teenager\, some twenty-five years ago. Initially\, he was drawn to the sound of the finger-picked style and has since immersed himself in the foundational music and narratives of American culture. Over the years\, Todd has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Cedric Burnside\, The Wood Brothers\, Corey Harris\, Charlie Parr\, Roy Book Binder\, and Paul Geremia. Todd has been featured in major publications such as Living Blues Magazine\, MOJO Magazine\, Premier Guitar Magazine\, American Blues Scene\, and mentioned on the cover of Acoustic Guitar Magazine. In 2019\, Todd produced a 12-string guitar instructional video with the famed Stefan Grossman Guitar Workshop. In addition\, Todd has filmed live sessions with Acoustic Guitar Magazine\, Fretboard Journal\, KEXP\, and Daytrotter/Paste Magazine. \nTodd’s first full-length LP\, Todd Albright\, was released by Lo & Behold! Records & Books in 2014 (Hamtramck\, MI). His second album\, Fourth Floor Visitor\, was released by Jett Plastic Recordings in Detroit\, Michigan (2017). In 2017\, Jack White’s Third Man Records released Todd’s critically acclaimed album\, Detroit Twelve String: Blues & Rags. Todd’s long awaited fourth album\, produced by legendary folk icon Charlie Parr\, is set for release on Misfortune Records in 2026. \nARTHUR TEREMBULA\nArthur Terembula is a translator of the sounds of 1920’s & 1930’s country blues and ragtime music. His guitar playing is reminiscent of the masters recorded on 78s. Reimagining the songs from those times and bringing them to the modern listener.

DESCRIPTION:ALL AGES\nSTANDING ROOM ONLY \nJERRY’S DEAD\nJerry’s Dead pays tribute to the music of Jerry Garcia. Not exactly a Grateful Dead cover band\, this quartet from Asheville\, North Carolina\, shines a spotlight specifically on songs lead by Jerry Garcia\, who fronted the Grateful Dead in an alternating fashion with his bandmates. The “long strange list” of Garcia compositions and his own wide range of cover songs comes to life with Jerry’s Dead’s exciting interpretations from this iconic catalog. Further extending their tribute\, Jerry’s Dead includes songs lead by Garcia in his many side projects throughout his accomplished career\, including the Jerry Garcia Band and his work with mandolinist David Grisman. To date Jerry’s Dead has performed well over 150 different Garcia pieces\, reinterpreting each in unique fashion to the delight of their growing fan base. \nJerry’s Dead features Tim Marsh on guitar and lead vocals and includes Dan Pederson on bass and vocals\, Gus Vigo on keys and vocals\, and Lee Kram on drums and vocals. Since their debut on June 21\, 2021\, at The Straightaway Cafe\, Jerry’s Dead has brought Garcia’s music to many of Western Carolina’s well known breweries and music venues\, including Highland Brewing Company\, The Grey Eagle\, Pisgah Brewing Company\, The Asheville Music Hall\, and The French Broad River Brewing Company\, which hosts Jerry’s Dead every Thursday evening for two sets of free music. This weekly residency has become a real draw for the band\, creating a space for vendors\, dancers\, and music lovers to commune regularly. \nOn occasion\, Jerry’s Dead has hosted some very special guests\, including Rob Barraco of The Dead\, Dark Star Orchestra\, Phil Lesh Quintet and Zen Tricksters; Lisa Mackey\, also of D.S.O.; Julian Pinelli\, who played fiddle with Peter Rowan\, a bluegrass bandmate of Garcia in Old and in the Way; and Joe Marcinek of the Joe Marcinek Band and Dead Funk Summit\, featuring George Porter Jr. of The Meters and Melvin Seals of the Jerry Garcia Band. After opening for Joe’ Marcinek’s Dead Funk Summit featuring Melvin Seals\, it was Tim’s great honor to sit in with Melvin Seals\, Joe Marcinek\, and Tony Hall of Dumpstaphunk that night.

He earned his MFA from Warren Wilson College\, where he was awarded the Ellen Bryant Voigt Scholarship. \nTurchi is the owner/operator of Second Take Sound and co-editor of The Swannanoa Review.

DESCRIPTION:ALL AGES\nSTANDING ROOM ONLY \nDELICATE STEVE\nTake a visit to Luke’s Garage\, Delicate Steve’s latest album\, and you’ll discover a place where sparks of creativity fly in all directions\, where melodies splatter the walls like brightly hued paint\, where no idea is too simple\, too ingenuous\, too full of childlike wonder. The L.A.-via-Jersey guitarist born Steve Marion\, whose credits include session work for Amen Dunes\, Paul Simon\, and Deradoorian\, had no grand plan for making it: he would simply book some time at a friend’s studio\, hunker down\, and play. He’s always allowed intuition to guide him\, composing his jubilantly tuneful instrumentals as he records them\, but this time\, he felt freer than ever to “keep the seams showing\, and don’t polish everything\, and keep it raw\, and alive\, and electric-feeling\,” he says. He chose the title\, Luke’s Garage\, as a tribute to his pal and sometime collaborator Luke Temple\, but also for the anything-goes adolescent innocence it conjured: the feeling of heading over to a buddy’s house\, turning up the amps\, and creating your own world. \nIn the world of Luke’s Garage\, a passage of music that feels like a sketch in progress might open into a hook so finely wrought\, so obviously right\, that you have a hard time believing you haven’t heard it before. The two passages may in fact be one and the same. There are songs that feel destined to soundtrack memories of windows-down road trips\, and those more suited to moments of hushed intimacy. A shadowy synth-pop excursion (“Light of the World”) veers into a candlelit soul ballad (“Shall Be Free”); a chugging garage-rocker (the title track\, naturally) sets up an unexpected detour into slinky disco (“There Goes My Baby”). Delicate Steve’s unmistakable sensibility\, his tone airy yet tactile\, his lines full of poignant bends and whimsical asides\, is a benevolent guide through the ever-shifting landscape\, keeping a steady hand on the wheel no matter the surroundings. He has little interest in showing off\, focusing instead on clarity\, simplicity\, and directness—more like an openhearted pop songwriter than a look-what-I-can-do shredder. \nSEE NIGHT \nIncluded in Bob Boilen’s Favorite Discoveries of 2025\, See Night is the indie-rock project of L.A.-based singer-songwriter Linda Sao\, who’s touring with drummer Cory Aboud for a duo set of cathartic rock and moody ballads infused with shoegaze\, dreampop\, and psych elements. After two self-released EPs\, Pavement’s Bob Nastanovich personally handpicked and released See Night‘s “Eloquence” 7-inch on his Brokers Tip Records. 2025 saw the release of the debut album Just Another Life\, which reflects on the many lives we can lead and leave behind in one lifetime. And like that dynamic between its contrasting themes of leaving and homecoming\, the tracklist itself is an ebb and flow\, from fuzzy-guitar-laden indie rock to orchestral shoegaze to piano instrumentals. Boilen (creator of NPR’s All Songs Considered and Tiny Desk Concerts) named the single “Gravity” one of “30 songs to fall in love with.”
