building, exploration, adventure, place-based learning, and the ignition of new passion for lifelong learners. These are non-credit bearing experiences, ranging in length from one to three weeks, that bring learners to our campus in Asheville, NC or send them on global explorations with Warren Wilson faculty. These courses highlight the unique magic of Warren Wilson College, which has been a hub of experiential learning since its founding as the Asheville Farm School in 1894.<\/p>\n
Adults of all ages are encouraged to apply (18+). The majority of courses will take place on Warren Wilson\u2019s campus, and others will be Worldwide Courses that depart from Asheville but travel to various corners of the globe.<\/p>\n
Tage Frid Stool
\nTage Frid was a Danish-born woodworker, educator and author. His design work was often in the Danish-modern style, best known for his three legged stool.
\nIn this week-long course, working with ash or oak lumber, we\u2019ll learn a few advance techniques in woodworking, including round wedged tenons, angled dovetails and shaping wooden parts with a spokeshave. Both hand work and machine work will be implemented to create the stool.

French Impressionist Summer
\nThis is a week-long art course that focuses on the approach and techniques of French Impressionist Painters of the 19th century. Using art history, drawing, and painting we will create our own emotional impressions of the Western North Carolina landscape.

Mushroom Foraging and Appreciation
\nCome explore the southern Appalachian ecosystems that are home to some of the most diverse fungal fruiting bodies in North America. In this four-day course, we will learn the basics of mushroom identification, learn a little about dyeing with mushrooms, and become familiar with a handful of edible mushrooms. This is a fun class that involves walking in the woods during the morning and relaxed activities after lunch.

Ascend to Better Birding I
