Shattered<\/p><\/div>\n

Asheville Contemporary Dance Theater (ACDT) and White Dog Project\u2014an initiative that links Asheville to the international art scene by creating original dance dramas in collaboration with foreign companies, choreographers and dancers\u2014have created an evening of performances that explore the human experience. On Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 4, at 6 p.m., two dance performances, None of the Nine<\/em> and Shattered<\/em>, will premiere at the popular BeBe Theatre in downtown Asheville.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe dancers have given so much of themselves in both of these new pieces,\u201d says Susan Collard, ACDT artistic director. \u201cBeautiful, important art has been created.\u201d<\/p>\n

None of the Nine<\/em>, a production that describes nine character types based on the Enneagram theory of personality, is a collaborative project of Collard and Mexican artist Daniel Alpuche. \u201cNone of the Nine<\/em> is fun and lively and sometimes comical in its interpretation with contemporary music,\u201d says Collard. \u201cPossibly, the audience will find their own personality in one of the ACDT dancers.\u201d<\/p>\n

As part of the evening\u2019s double feature,\u00a0ACDT\u00a0will also premier CoCo Palmer Dulce\u2019s new work, Shattered<\/em>. The performance addresses abuse and violence and the human ability to heal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited about the performances,\u201d says Collard, \u201cbecause both deal with current issues. Shattered<\/em> is important because violence is something that we deal with all the time and None of the Nine<\/em> is all about human nature and we know how complicated that can be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tickets to ACDT\u2019s double feature are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. Part of the proceeds of these\u00a0performances will go to Helpmate, a local domestic violence agency that gives victims shelter,\u00a0safety and support. <\/em>For more information and to purchase tickets, visit acdt.org. <\/a><\/em><\/p>\n
