\"Seven<\/a>Through April, Seven Sisters Gallery in Black Mountain is hosting an exhibit of paintings by Kate Thayer. \u201cShe is a master of pastels and now with her incorporating oils, it\u2019s even better,\u201d says gallery owner Andrea McNair. \u201cYou really have to get up close to her pieces to enjoy all of the unexpected details.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kate says our area\u2019s mountains have enchanted her and become the inspiration for her paintings.<\/p>\n

She earned degrees from Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin. Since then, she says, her \u201cclassroom\u201d has been the major galleries and museums around the world.<\/p>\n

She paints scenes\u2014mountains, rivers, woods\u2014that are at the same time ordinary and enchanting, reminding us to slow down and appreciate all that is around us.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy work is intended to cast an enchanting spell on the imagination of viewers by seeing the beauty of nature through my eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is my passion to bring my skills and years of study to my personal interpretation of the beauty and mysteries of nature to those who encounter my paintings.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kate\u2019s paintings have been juried and awarded in regional, national, and international shows, and two of her pieces appear in the 2015 volume of International Contemporary Artists<\/i>.<\/p>\n
