The programs of Asheville Humane Society (AHS) last year impacted more than 8,000 animals in our community. With proceeds benefitting AHS, the 13th<\/sup> annual Dine To Be Kind fundraiser will take place on Tuesday, March 8. On this day, participating Asheville area restaurants will donate 15 percent of their food and drink sales (both dine-in and to-go orders) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to AHS.<\/p>\n

This year, the goal is to increase assistance to at-risk animals in an effort to help pets and their people stay together. \u201cThrough our new and expanded Community Pets initiatives, AHS is going directly into communities to offer education and resources to help local pets and their people before they ever reach our doors,\u201d says Lauren Weldishofer, special events manager.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Dine To Be Kind fundraiser mirrors that approach,\u201d she continues. \u201cOur partner restaurants encourage community members to come together on one day to raise funds for local animals who rely on the lifesaving programs of AHS. With the help of our partner businesses and volunteer ambassadors, even the diners who are not going out specifically for Dine To Be Kind are raising funds, and they will now know more about the lifesaving work that they are supporting.\u201d<\/p>\n
