Goodwill is the place creative designers go to discover interesting garments and unique bits and pieces of fabrics and accessories with which to make their own creations. What many may not know, however, is that Goodwill of Northwest NC has three Workforce Centers (Asheville, Hendersonville and Waynesville) where people in need can get a helping hand to get back on solid ground after one of life\u2019s misfortunes.<\/p>\n

Color Me Goodwill, a fun and fast-paced event supporting Goodwill, will take place on Friday, March, 18 at Diana Wortham Theatre. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Goodwill by watching talented \u201cupcyclers\u201d in a fashion show. Using color as the catalyst, designers have been invited to select a color, shop at Goodwill, and create a line of clothing designs featuring that color. Artists were also invited to create live paintings in the same colors.<\/p>\n

The festivities begin with a cocktail hour\u2014featuring beer and wine and hors d\u2019oeuvres\u2014from 6\u20137 p.m. in the theatre\u2019s lobby. The Sara Fields Trio will provide the live jazz inspiration for the six painters, each working in their assigned color, to create a live art experience. The finished paintings will be donated to the Asheville Area Arts Council to auction off as a fundraising effort.<\/p>\n

At 7 p.m., the fashion show will begin inside the theatre. Thirty models will take the stage to showcase the amazing designs. Each color-specific fashion show will feature four professional models and one Goodwill participant or staff member. The designers are Dani Chaboudy (white), Leanna Echeverri (purple), Malou Cordery (blue), Rachel Friel (green), Tricia Ellis (black), and McKinney Gough (red).<\/p>\n
