It is being presented in conjunction with <i>photo + craft<\/i>, a program of events, exhibitions, and artist talks organized by Eric Baden and Warren Wilson College. The artists in<i> photoCRAFT<\/i> are:<\/p>\n<p>Joanne Arnett transforms herself, assuming various personas for mug shot self-portraits, woven with thread and reflective wire.<\/p>\n<p>Mary Van Cline integrates surreal black-and-white photography with glass in her celebrated sculptures that have earned her international acclaim.<\/p>\n<p>Kristin Skees\u2019 <i>Cozy Portraits<\/i> depict whimsical figures masked in knitted, full-body stockings.<\/p>\n<p>Clarissa Sligh\u2019s powerful photo books elicit a visceral response, often addressing themes of race.<\/p>\n<p>David Samuel Stern\u2019s woven photographs on vellum portray multiple views of their subject. Hayden Wilson uses glass powders and a serigraph process to fuse architectural imagery of Asheville\u2019s River Arts District onto his 2-D and 3-D glass objects.<\/p>\n<p>Also at Blue Spiral 1, a group fiber exhibition, titled <i>Contemporary Southern Textiles<\/i>, continues in the lower level. Several of the artists will be present for a panel discussion at the gallery at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15. This event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Also, local artist Kreh Mellick has a solo exhibition of her narrative drawings.<\/p>\n<p><i>Blue Spiral 1, 38 Biltmore Avenue, is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
