He combined two loves\u2014 hiking to beautiful spots and photographing them\u2014to produce <em>Waterfalls of Western North Carolina.<\/em> A large percentage of proceeds from the sale of the book will benefit businesses in Brevard. \u201cOverall, the goal is to show how much we can come together in everything we choose to do in life,\u201d Moore says. \u201cThere is always room to do good in our everyday tasks.\u201d Sponsorship by Transylvania County Tourism and local advertisers helped make publication possible.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_44457\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44457\" class=\"wp-image-44457\" src=\"https:\/\/thelaurelofasheville.com\/updatestage\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Book-Feature-1-Waterfalls.jpg-none-needed.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"311\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-44457\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mike Moore, author<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Work on the full-color book involved many hours of research, some intense hikes and taking and editing photographs of more than 100 waterfalls. Moore began in his own backyard. \u201cWhen you live in a place called \u2018Land of Waterfalls,\u2019 it\u2019s hard not to want to explore as many as you can,\u201d he says. Included are many recognizable spots, such as Looking Glass Falls in Pisgah National Forest, as well as others off the beaten path. \u201cAs much as I love the popular waterfalls that most people travel for many miles to visit, there are some that really have much more to them than just size,\u201d Moore says. Among his favorite lesser-known cascades are White Owl Falls (featured on the book\u2019s cover), Little Bird Falls, Merry Falls and Courthouse Falls. \u201cThe beauty of waterfalls is that they are all so different and each has its own individual way of connecting with us,\u201d says Moore.<\/p>\n<p><em>Waterfalls of Western North Carolina, May, 2021, photography, softcover, $29.50, by Mike Moore, and independently published.
