\n<\/a>As sculptor Peter Dallos puts it, \u201cYou can\u2019t retire from something, you have to retire to something.\u201d So when he completed a 50-year career as a neurobiologist on the faculty at Northwestern University in 2012, Peter decided to pursue his interest in sculpture full time. You\u2019ll find his work at gallery dallos in downtown Marshall. Born in Budapest, Hungary, Peter spent his early years under the Hungarian fascist regime and later under the Soviet occupation. After the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, Peter escaped and moved to Chicago. Working primarily with aluminum and steel, Peter creates what he refers to as \u201cpolitical art,\u201d which has an agenda. His initial works comprise the War Series. The Struggle Series depicts civilization and its adversaries. When completed, Abstract Machines will feature a dozen simple machines. His latest body of work, End of the Road Series, reflects a dystopian world. \u201cAll of these pieces reflect a sort of turning point in life,\u201d says Peter. \u201cYou arrive at some kind of an obstacle that seems insurmountable.\u201d Come see his latest works when the gallery reopens on May 13.<\/p>\n
