In Buncombe County, individuals and organizations are recognizing the growing importance to connect children with the food they eat. They are accomplishing this through local tailgate markets, schoolyard gardens, and farm-based education.<\/p>\n<p>Two Sisters Farmstead School, a new nonprofit farm and nature school in Candler, aims to foster the connections between people, food, and nature. On May Day (Sunday, May 1), they are opening their 25-acre property to the community in support of that mission. At this event, which runs from 1\u20135 p.m., children and families can hike the trails, plant seedlings, design butterfly wings, build forts and fairy houses, and meet others who also support nature education.<\/p>\n<p>A wealth of raffle items from local businesses such as Sunny Point Caf\u00e9, Asheville Yoga Center, LaZoom Comedy Bus Tours, New Mountain, and Biscuit Head will be available, and all donations go to strengthen the programming at the Farmstead.
