Hazelwood Family Medicine, in Waynesville, now offers Emsella and Emsculpt noninvasive incontinence and body sculpting therapies. The FDA-approved treatments have been shown to be safe and effective in numerous peer-reviewed studies.<\/p>\n

Emsella utilizes electromagnetic energy to deliver thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions in a single session. These contractions, which are similar to those performed when doing a Kegel exercise, re-educate the muscles of incontinent patients and may improve both continence and sexual function. What makes this treatment effective is the in-depth penetration and stimulation of the entire pelvic floor area. A single session brings thousands of intense contractions that one would not be able to do on one\u2019s own.<\/p>\n

Though many patients report improvement in symptoms after the first treatment, six sessions are typically scheduled over the course of three to six weeks. Treatments consist of wearing thin pants and sitting on an Emsella chair for about 30 minutes. Patients experience a mild tingling sensation and pelvic floor muscle contractions during the procedure. Normal daily activities may be resumed immediately after treatment.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that Emsculpt is not a weight loss procedure, but is designed to reduce fat and build muscle in many different body types. According to Brown, it can reduce fat by 30 percent and increase muscle by 25 percent in a given area. The typical treatment protocol is one session per week for four weeks.<\/p>\n
