\"\"While working on a master\u2019s thesis, Scott B. Robinson found his muse in the ancient Roman poet Catullus, who, Robinson says, \u201ctaught me much about humor, emotion, musicality and form.\u201d Inspired, he began writing and publishing short fiction. With the publication of The Young Fate<\/em>, the Asheville writer can call himself a novelist as well.<\/p>\n

He recommends this work of speculative fiction for readers who enjoy challenging stories. \u201cAny reader who has discovered in literature a defiant voice against the absurd world we\u2019re born into will find a kindred spirit in The Young Fate,<\/em>\u201d Robinson says. The fantastical adventure revolves around a young man, Yan, whose best friend has vanished, and a delusional homeless man whose life will intersect with Yan\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy hope is to remind the reader what was first revealed in childhood\u2014that life is mysterious and sacred and full, wherever it takes seed,\u201d Robinson says. \u201cIn an age when so much of the media we surround ourselves with tells us to seek outward approval, I want to encourage the reader to instead look inward for a more meaningful and enduring sense of identity. At the heart of the novel is the act of the good deed, which we learn flows naturally from this kind of internal journey towards self-realization.\u201d<\/p>\n
