Twigs & Leaves Gallery in Waynesville<\/p><\/div>\n

Twigs and Leaves Gallery in Waynesville will celebrate 25 years of business during the Art After Dark event on on Friday, October 6, from 5:30\u20138:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

David Erickson and Kaaren Stoner established the gallery in 1998 with an extensive renovation of a century-old building on Main Street. Carrie and John Keith purchased the gallery in 2017 and transferred ownership this year to Peggy and Roger Reid.<\/p>\n

Erickson, Stoner, the Keiths and many of the gallery\u2019s artists will be in attendance at the anniversary celebration, which will feature light bites and live music.<\/p>\n

Stoner and Erickson explored several Western North Carolina towns before deciding to build their dream in Waynesville. \u201cIt was not only our favorite small town,\u201d says Stoner, \u201cbut many people assisted us here with information and Ron Huelster, the director of the Downtown Waynesville Association at the time, actually helped us secure our building on Main Street. Our goal was to find a location where we could have retail space, room for my pottery studio, and also live. It turned out to be the perfect building.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not only did Twigs and Leaves meet the personal requirements of Stoner and Erickson but it also served a burgeoning artist community in the region that needed representation. \u201cTwigs and Leaves filled a very important need when we came to town,\u201d says Stoner. \u201cI believe Twigs and Leaves thrived because it attracted a diverse group of talented artists, art work was displayed in a tasteful and creative manner and we offered the public arriving in Waynesville a rich experience. This tradition continues to this day.\u201d<\/p>\n
