Weaverville Business Association presents the 17th Annual Art in Autumn<\/em> in downtown Weaverville on Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More than 100 juried artists in a variety of disciplines will set up vendor booths along Main Street for the premier fine art and craft show, which is free to attend. Robert Blanton, who recently retired after working for more than 20 years as a Jewelry\/Metals instructor at Haywood Community College, is this year\u2019s guest judge.<\/p>\n

Abstract painter Christy Vonderlack will bring her highly textured acrylic paintings, Gelli mono-prints on paper and limited palette collage pieces to Art in Autumn. \u201cBeing a legally blind abstract expressionist,\u201d she says, \u201cI paint from the gut with no planning. I find it so incredible to be able to create things that have a power, energy and beauty. The imagination of the viewer takes over and often evokes a memory, feeling or visual.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christy Vonderlack, artist<\/p><\/div>\n

Vonderlack has participated in Art in Autumn before, but knows many artists that will be there for the first time this year. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to see their work all in one place,\u201d she says. \u201cThe quality of artists in this show is next level as it draws people from the entire region. I\u2019ve had collectors from Knoxville and interior designers from Kingsport, TN. I\u2019ve also had buyers from Charlotte that say they come to this show every year and make a weekend out of it because it\u2019s better than any other art shows in Charlotte. This has really become a destination show which is great for the artists, community and the local businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n

Salvaterra Pottery & Woodworks will also have a booth at Art in Autumn featuring its line of distinctive crystalline pottery as well as some unique, collaborative mixed-media products, including an heirloom bathroom vanity and laser-etched and epoxy wood serving trays. \u201cWeaverville is our hometown,\u201d says Salvaterra owner Randy Hintz. \u201cOur philosophy as small business owners is that all of us thrive and benefit from the spotlight this event brings to our craft and our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
