The Asheville Gallery of Art presents Blooming Connections<\/em>, an exhibition featuring the work of Olga Michelson and Susan Voorhees. Blooming Connections<\/em> is on display for the entire month of July, with an opening reception on Friday, July 11, from 5\u20147:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Morning Roses. Olga Michelson, artist<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cMy work is deeply inspired by the dynamic interplay of color and pattern\u2014elements that breathe energy and rhythm into the composition,\u201d says Voorhees. \u201cI\u2019m fascinated by how these visual components can transform the familiar into something poetic. Through my paintings, I hope to evoke a sense of wonder and connection, inviting viewers to slow down, look closer and discover their own narratives within the work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Voorhees will display a new series of pastels that explore \u201cthe delicate balance between pattern and the play of light and shadow,\u201d she says. \u201cThe collection includes both still lifes and landscapes, each one an intimate study of form and atmosphere. Together, they reflect my ongoing interest in capturing the quiet beauty found in everyday scenes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tulips and Stripes. Susan Voorhees, artist<\/p><\/div>\n

The subjects and colors in Michelson\u2019s still lifes are similar to that of Voorhees\u2019 pastels, so the artists\u2019 works will complement each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cStill life is my first love as a genre,\u201d says Michelson, who started painting when she was a child. \u201cStill life is not just a group of subjects organized nicely\u2014it\u2019s things that are meaningful and important and beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asheville Gallery of Art is located at 82 Patton Avenue in Asheville, across from Pritchard Park. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
