Salmagundi Gallery, in Waynesville, announces the introduction to the gallery of work by jewelry artist Rebecca Hellman Helck. The gallery will host a reception with a chance to meet the artist and view a curated selection of her latest work on Thursday, August 7, from 5\u20137 p.m. \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to have Salmagundi Gallery as a new home for my work,\u201d Hellman Helck says, \u201ca space where people can discover and revisit my evolving collection. I\u2019m also excited to collaborate with the gallery team, whose insight and support help convey the vision behind each piece I create.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hellman Helck\u2019s one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces are designed to be worn with enjoyment. \u201cNo two are ever identical,\u201d she says. \u201cI work primarily with Argentium and sterling silver, and I love incorporating semi-precious stones, antique coins and other found elements that carry history and character.\u201d<\/p>\n

These include pearls, seashells and naturally weathered wood. \u201cI\u2019m inspired by the beauty in unexpected objects, those that evoke a sense of place, time or personal resonance.\u201d<\/p>\n

A native of South Florida, Hellman Helck explored painting, ceramics and glasswork before concentrating on jewelry design. As a child, she watched her father cut rocks and precious stones in his lapidary shop at home, and rather than the toy section in stores it was the jewelry counter that always drew her attention.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always believed that jewelry should not only be visually compelling but also intimately wearable,\u201d she says, \u201cpieces that feel like a natural extension of the person wearing them. There\u2019s something powerful about wearing a piece that tells a story, reflects your individuality and still feels comfortable and lived-in.\u201d For the reception, she will share pieces that celebrate the unexpected, inviting curiosity and sparking conversation. \u201cEach design offers a fresh perspective on form and material,\u201d she says, \u201coffering both artistic exploration and a deep appreciation for wearable beauty.\u201d<\/p>\n
