He later collected the works, based on his early life adventures in Brooklyn, NY and elsewhere, into a book, <em>The Blueberry Society<\/em>, and published it in February, billing it as \u201can escape from today\u2019s crazy times.\u201d Someone called it \u201cliterary Xanax\u201d and, says Zeebo, \u201cI like that!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His reading tastes lean toward great novelists like John Steinbeck, Herman Hesse and John Updike\u2014but also include humorists David Sedaris and Dave Barry. That zaniness, with \u201ca dash of spice,\u201d was what he wanted for his stories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeveral reviewers referred to me as a raconteur,\u201d says Zeebo. \u201cAt first, I thought it was a derivative of \u2018raccoon\u2019 in that I snuck around their trash late at night, stealing stories as I compiled my anecdotal tales. Perhaps my first instinct was correct; I\u2019m just a raccoon up all night, rummaging around the garbage can of life, looking for a snack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of his favorite critiques is from the <em>San Francisco Book Review<\/em> and advises readers to \u201ccheck your political correctness at the door because this book is all about the glorious, messy, unfiltered trash of human experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zeebo is now working on a novel, <em>What God Takes Away<\/em>, the writing of which, he says, has turned him into \u201ca caricature of a tortured writer, staying up all night, smoking Camels, drinking Scotch, ripping up pages and tossing them in the trash while I curse God, my sister and all of humanity for putting this Sisyphus-like task upon me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Blueberry Society: A Schoolyard Novella, Misguided Short Stories, and Other Ramblings, <em>February 2026, fiction, hardcover $35, paperback $13.99, by Zeebo, and published by Thawland Creative Studios LLC, Waynesville.
