Starting at 11:00 a.m., we will gather to honor the relentless pursuit of justice and equality by women throughout history and protest Trump’s attempt to erase their contributions.<\/p>\n
The 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote\u2014a monumental step toward gender equality. Yet, as we stand here in 2025, we recognize that the journey toward true equality is far from complete.<\/p>\n
In recent months, our nation has witnessed a series of actions by President Donald Trump’s administration that threaten to undermine the progress generations of women have fought so hard to achieve.<\/p>\n
Women Who Paved the Way:<\/p>\n
* Sojourner Truth \u2013 American abolitionist and activist for African American civil rights and women’s rights<\/p>\n
* Elizabeth Cady Stanton \u2013 Advocate for women’s legal and social equality<\/p>\n
* Susan B. Anthony \u2013 Leader of the women’s suffrage movement and social reformer<\/p>\n
* Ida B. Wells-Barnett \u2013 Civil rights activist who led a campaign against lynching in the 1890s<\/p>\n
* Cecilia Chung \u2013 Civil rights leader and activist for LGBTQ+ rights<\/p>\n
* Peggy Bird, Darlene Correa, and Genne James \u2013 Founders of the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW)<\/p>\n
* Sylvia Rivera \u2013 American transgender rights activist<\/p>\n
* Judy Heumann \u2013 American disability rights activist<\/p>\n
* Luisa Moreno \u2013 Guatemalan social activist and labor movement participant in the U.S.<\/p>\n
* Grace A. Peterson \u2013 First female Chief Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force<\/p>\n
The proposed 8% budget cut to the Pentagon over the next five years, as reported by The Guardian, raises concerns about the potential impact on programs that support women in the military. Additionally, the significant layoffs at the IRS\u2014where over 6,700 staff members are expected to be dismissed\u2014will disproportionately affect women employed in these roles and hinder services many women rely upon.<\/p>\n
Moreover, the administration’s executive orders cutting federal benefits for undocumented immigrants not only marginalize vulnerable communities but also disregard the contributions of countless women who are integral to the fabric of our society. These actions reflect a broader pattern of policies that neglect the rights and well-being of women.<\/p>\n
Our response to these challenges must be unwavering. We draw inspiration from the Women’s March on Washington in 2017, where millions united globally to advocate for women’s rights and social justice. That historic event demonstrated the power of collective action and set the stage for continued resistance against policies that threaten our freedoms.<\/p>\n
On March 8th, we must stand in solidarity with all women\u2014transgender, cisgender, women of color, immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those with disabilities. Our diversity is our strength, and our unity is our power. We must continue to organize, speak out, and demand policies that uphold the dignity and rights of every woman<\/p>\n
Let us honor the legacy of those who came before us by recommitting ourselves to the fight for equality. Let us challenge any administration that seeks to roll back our rights. And let us envision a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive, free from discrimination and oppression.<\/p>\n
