\nJoin MountainTrue, Conserving Carolina, and local naturalists for a day of exploration and discovery in the heart of the Hickory Nut Gorge on the 10th Annual BioBlitz. The BioBlitz is a fast-paced communal effort to find and identify as many species of plants, animals, and fungi as possible in a specific area. Whether you\u2019re a seasoned biologist or a curious neighbor, your observations help us better understand and protect the incredible biodiversity of Western North Carolina.<\/p>\n

\nWhat is a BioBlitz?
\nA BioBlitz is part social event, part scientific expedition. Armed with the iNaturalist app and guided by experts, we\u2019ll head into the field to document the rare and rugged ecosystems near Gerton, NC.<\/p>\n

Explore: Navigate diverse terrains with expert naturalists.
\nLearn: Discover how to identify local flora and fauna.
\nContribute: Every observation you upload becomes part of a global database used by scientists to track environmental health.

\nReady to become a citizen scientist? Space is limited to ensure a high-quality experience for all participants and to minimize our impact on the land.<\/p>\n

Important Reminders:
\nThere will be a variety of hike options for this event ranging from easy to strenuous. Please leave pets at home. Kids are welcome to attend as long as accompanied by a parent\/guardian for the duration of the event.<\/p>\n

Parking is limited at the venue so carpooling is encouraged.<\/p>\n
