SUMMARY:Queer Girls Literary Reading Series Celebrates its 17th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:The 17th Annual Queer Girls Literary Reading will be held Sunday\, October 18\, at 3 p.m. at White Horse Black Mountain. \nLori Horvitz\, Professor Emeritus of English at UNC Asheville\, started the series in 2009 as a celebration of Asheville’s queer literary women. The series has included local and regional writers of varying ages\, identities\, races and abilities\, and was originally held in the library at the Phil Mechanic Studios in the River Arts District. Due to growing interest and the need for a larger venue\, The Mothlight\, Rabbit Rabbit\, and Tyger Tyger Gallery have also hosted the event. \nLockie Hunter\, organizer of the Juniper Bends Reading Series\, joined Horvitz in organizing the event eleven years ago. This year’s lineup includes local and regional writers\, UNCA students\, and community members. \nAdmission to the event is by donation\, with a $15 suggested donation (more if you can\, less if you can’t). Doors will open at 2 p.m. \nWhite Horse Black Mountain is located at 105 C Montreat Road\, Black Mountain.
