Above: RUNA
A delightful mélange of musical offerings is on tap this month as the Mountain Spirit Acoustic Series continues at Isis Music Hall.
February 10: Hailed as one of Irish’s music’s new super groups, RUNA offers both the exuberant melodies of Ireland and Scotland and a blend of bluegrass, flamenco, blues, and jazz.
February 18: Vance Gilbert is a folk singer/songwriter “With the voice of an angel, the wit of a devil, and the guitar playing of a god,” says the Fort Worth Star of Vance. He’s a regular instructor at the Swannanoa Gathering.
February 20: Carrie Newcomer has become a major voice for progressive spirituality and social justice. Dallas Morning News says, “She’s the kind of artist whose music makes you stop, think, and then say, ‘That is so true.’”
February 21: Southern folk artist Jefferson Ross is a songwriter, singer, guitarist, painter, and storyteller. He tours the United States and Canada writing and performing humorous and thought-provoking songs delivered with a rich, comfortable voice.
February 28: Another innovative Celtic band, The Fretless will present an evening of folk and chamber music they like to call “rad trad.”
