Asheville’s Vegfest: Celebrating Vegan Food & Drink May 15

The Asheville Vegan Society is hosting Vegfest from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, in Pack Square Park. Everyone is invited to stop by and get “stuffed and chuffed” at this vegan extravaganza.

If you’ve ever been curious about a plant-based diet, this is the place to learn—and taste—more. There will be lots of great food for purchase from food trucks and local vegan restaurants, and plenty of free samples as well. In addition, there will be cooking demonstrations, live music, speakers, and a kids’ area.

The event is the culmination of Vegan Awareness Week that runs May 9–15. During the week there will several veganrelated events taking place around Asheville.

Vegan food is more available today than ever before. In addition to specialty items on restaurant menus, there are vegan eateries and specialty treats from artisanal cheese to nondairy ice cream. As the Asheville Vegan Society points out, “Making the one simple (and tasty!) choice to follow a vegan diet has a resounding impact—on the planet, human health, and the lives of thousands of animals.”
