J. Scott Graham, Author
Scott Graham has spent 32 years photographing the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains, during that time publishing books and creating and selling products featuring his images. “My greatest joy has been making new discoveries on every outing,” he says. “Flora, fauna, lighting, weather and seasons that are often unpredictable and always ever-changing make the Southern Appalachians a treasure trove of endless wonder.”
When he found himself with extra time because of the pandemic, he set out to create new images, resulting in two “very unplanned books” featuring two iconic places: the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Included with the stunning images are brief essays about his travels and attempts to capture beauty. The photos often look deceptively serene on the pages as if staged by Mother Nature just for the photographer. “I hope people will enjoy reading my short stories about the joys and struggles of exploration that are featured throughout both books,” Graham says. “Nature photography is often a beautiful mess.”
