Blue Ridge BBQ & Music Festival is June 10-11
Bring the whole family down to Harmon Field in Tryon for the 23rd annual Blue Ridge Barbecue and Music Festival, produced by the Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce, Friday and Saturday, June 10–11. There’s music, fun activities, and, of course, barbecue. During Saturday’s barbecue competition, sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, approximately 80 teams of cooks will compete for money, trophies, and bragging rights.
There’s also a wide selection of other tasty treats. “In an effort to be family friendly, vendors this year will be offering smaller, less expensive portions as well as their regular menu items, and there will be many choices besides barbecue, including vegetarian selections,” says festival chairman Eric McKaig.
The juried Foothills Craft Fair features demos and wares from 50 makers. Children can enjoy carnival attractions and games with tickets available for unlimited rides. From acoustic jams to rock ‘n’ roll, musical performers from a variety of genres will play across two stages. Headliners include The Marcus King Band, The Steepwater Band, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, and Blair Crimmins and the Hookers.
On Saturday, you’ll find about 200 restored vintage cars and trucks at the Classic Car Show and a grand finale fireworks show. Hours are 10 A.M. to 11 P.M. both days. Admission is free for everyone from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. on Friday. (And you can stay all day!) Polk County and Landrum residents (with ID) receive free admission all day Friday. At other times, general admission is $8, which includes entertainment and shuttle parking. Children 12 and under are always admitted for free, with adult ticket, as are active military.
