RAD Hosts Community Art Day on July 11

The River Arts District will come alive with creativity and community on Saturday, July 11, as RAD artists host a Community Art Day. The fun-filled day will feature open studios, local artists, family-friendly activities, and a celebration of Asheville’s vibrant arts scene.
Visitors are invited to spend the day exploring working artist studios and galleries throughout the district while enjoying a variety of free activities and special events.

Highlights include:
•  Outdoor Art Market featuring 21 local artists and makers in the Roberts Street parking lot across from The Wyre River Arts Apartments.  Shaved ice and fresh lemonade will be available!
Free Pet Portraits Workshop with artist Taryn Cozzy from noon to 4 p.m. at RAD Rendezvous. The workshop is free, with tips appreciated

•  New Foundry Molten Made hosting a live metal pouring demo at RAD Rendezvous at 12, 2, and 4 p.m.

The festivities kick off Friday, July 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with We Were Always Here, the inaugural Artways: Asheville Exhibition. The opening will be held at the RAD Welcome Center inside RAD Rendezvous at 87 Roberts Street, and will feature a panel discussion at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Community Art Day offers an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to meet local artists, experience Asheville’s creative community firsthand, and support the continued vitality of the River Arts District.
