Downtown After Five Concert

Clock In at Downtown After Five on June 17

If you missed last month’s first concert of Downtown After Five, don’t worry. You’ll have several more chances to experience this outdoor concert series hosted by the Asheville Downtown Association. On the third Friday of each summer month through September, these free musical performances take place along North Lexington Avenue.

At the next event on June 17, Asheville’s own Raising Caine (raisingcainemusic.com) will bring their soulful music, heartfelt lyrics, and backing vocals to the stage. They’ll open for headliner Futurebirds (futurebirdsmusic.com), hailing from Athens, Georgia. Their stripped-down rock sound is created from four-part harmonies and pedal steel guitar.

Each summer, ADA partners with five local nonprofit organizations to sell wristbands to guests 21 and older who wish to consume alcohol. CarePartners is the recipient for June and will receive a grant of $2,000. Other nonprofits through September include Homeward Bound, Asheville Music School, and YMI Cultural Center.

In addition to many local beers on tap, there will also be several food vendors, including D.O.G.S., Gypsy Queen Cuisine, Kernel Mike’s Kettle Corn and Snow Cones, Moe’s Original BBQ, Rosetta’s Kitchen, Simply Nuts, Taste & See Food Truck, and Ultimate Ice Cream.
