Terpsicorps’ Transform
Welcomes Change

Now in its 14th season, Terpsicorps is a local professional ballet company that delights guests with cutting edge performances with thought-provoking themes. Artistic director Heather Maloy’s choreography tackles tough subjects and blends stunning visuals with highly entertaining storytelling techniques. Continuing this tradition, the world premiere of Transform will take place on June 23–25 at Diana Wortham Theatre, 2 South Pack Square in downtown Asheville.

Heather’s newest creation, Transform, is filled with tales of momentous change. Included among these are a young person who struggles with the concept of mortality and eventually accepts its inevitability; a couple who understands the meaning of lifelong love; and a soul born into the wrong body who is victorious after a personal battle.

While Transform conveys individual stories, it also zooms out and takes a look at the human experience as a whole. Heather wants viewers to ask themselves whether any one person’s struggle is more valid or more deserving of our understanding than that of another.

While someone else’s path may appear different than our own, we are all united through the fact that we all experience never-ending change.

During the summer months, Terpsicorps brings in critically acclaimed professional dancers from across the country to perform. Included in the program is choreography by Salvatore Aiello and new work by longtime Terpsicorps collaborator Christopher Bandy.

A gala night ($100 per person) on June 23 at 7 p.m. includes a preshow champagne toast, backstage tour, VIP tickets for the show, and entry to the after party at Lex 18.

Tickets for the performances cost $30 for general admission, $28 for seniors, $25 for students, $20 for teens (ages 12–17), and $12 for children. Group rates are available. To purchase advance tickets, call Diana Wortham Theatre at 828.257.4530 or visit dwtheatre.com.
