For the month of September, Woolworth Walk will feature jewelry by Jessica Blissett of Bluebird Designs alongside paintings by Liz Niemeyer in the FW Gallery. There will be a reception for the show on Friday, September 1.

For Blissett, this show represents a re-emergence after a difficult period. “The last four years have held many challenges, surprises and blessings, but one of the things that I had to sacrifice heavily was my time creating and fabricating in my studio,” she says. Now that her children are a little older and attending school, Blissett is able to find more time to work on her metalsmithing at her home studio, Ignite Jewelry Studios in the River Arts District. “This exhibit was my way of allowing myself the capacity to be creative in any and all ways in regards to my jewelry.”
Niemeyer studied studio art at Eastern Illinois University before moving to North Carolina in 2009. “I chose some of my more recent works to display for this show because some of them have yet to be seen aside from being on my wall at my studio space,” she says. “I am excited to share them with more people in the main gallery. I feel like Jessica’s work and mine go well together because we’re both nature-based artists and have the same hope that our work will inspire you.”
