Dillsboro’s “Summer Arts & Crafts Market” is a Delightful Step Back in Time
Less than an hour southwest of Asheville along the banks of the Tuckasiegee River lies the 19th-century railroad town of Dillsboro, population 237. Just a couple of blocks long, Dillsboro has changed little over the years. What it might lack in size, however, the town makes up for with its many festivals and parades throughout the year.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday, August 20, the town will host more than 40 vendors in its annual Summer Arts & Crafts Market. Come stroll the streets and see the amazing creativity of these artisans (many will be giving demonstrations), and enjoy the live entertainment—including music and clogging—on the festival stage.
Prepare to be seduced by the tantalizing aromas of kettle corn cooking in a copper kettle, of barbecue from the Haywood Smoke house, of roasting almonds, and of delectable treats from Dillsboro’s Chocolate Factory. Festival foods will also be available along Church Street, and there will be a lot of great things for kids to do, too.
