The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context.

All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted.

Call for Artists – Imposter Exhibition

February 5, 2027 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$20

Calling all artists and crafty people!

Our Imposter Exhibition is taking submissions! We are looking for art that is not quite what it seems. Maybe you’re really good at making thread look like paint or trash look like a whimsical collage. This show can be your time to shine! Cash prizes available!

All mediums are welcome, you just can’t use them for their intended purpose, or the final piece must mimic another medium. A “painting” made out of melted crayons? Great! A dress made from plastic cups? Fantastic! A sculpture of a raccoon made out of safety pins? Awesome!

Submission deadline is December 31, 2026.

The exhibition will be on display from February 5 – February 20, 2027, with the Opening Ceremony happening Friday, February 5th, from 5pm – 8pm.

Artists are allowed to submit up to 2 pieces. Submission fee is $20 per piece.
