The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. Mia Jackson, a native of Columbus, GA, started her stand up career in Atlanta. Now living in New York, Mia performs regularly around the city when not on the road. In 2022, she was one of the openers for Amy Schumer’s national tour.
She has written for Life & Beth (Hulu) and I Love Us (BET+). Her first original comedy pilot, Aim Higher, was optioned in 2021. A true multi-hyphenate, Mia’s delightful Georgia accent landed her a voiceover role as the narrator for My Celebrity Dream Wedding (VH1). Her second half hour special premiered on Comedy Central in Nov 2019 and her stand up has been featured on This Week at The Comedy Cellar (Comedy Central). Mia is smart, funny, relatable and versatile. Her endearing comedy and bright attitude entertains all types of crowds.
