The Laurel of Asheville is a lifestyle magazine focused on the arts, culture, and communities of Western North Carolina, and submitted events should fall within this context. If your event occurs over several days, please submit multiple events. Events extending beyond a month will not be accepted. All submissions are subject to editorial approval and edits for clarity and style before being published online. If you are going to include a photograph, please be certain that you have the rights to utilize that image. If there is a question about image rights, we may remove the image. Also, images should be no larger than 2000 pixels wide. Large images will prevent the event from being submitted. Please allow up to 5 days for your even to be posted. If you encounter difficulties submitting an event, please email [email protected].

Summer Expressions in Mixed Media Collage

Location: Riverview Station: 191 Lyman St. Asheville @ Studio 324 (2nd Floor of Art Garden)
Duration: 2.5 hours
Share your summer story by creating a unique work of art using and combining various materials, such as: acrylic paint, paper, fabric, favorite cut out images, vintage photos you collect and many more. Create and build your own vision through this art process.
While I encourage you to be creative and unafraid in this art class, I will also guide, and coach each participant with the process. Explore new ways of telling a story through the use of found materials you already have at home.
Gather materials to express your summer theme. For example: old fabric remnants with interesting prints, images from old magazines, favorite vintage photos you have collected, etc. All other materials will be provided: paint, brushes, oil pastel, colored pens and pencils, and surface board/canvas).
Let your imagination go free and have fun!
