Artist, Holly Turner
Artist Holly Turner creates sculptures with polymer clay and found natural materials, such as sticks, tree bark, and vines. Beginning with a lump of polymer clay, Holly wields a wooden carving tool over the clay for many hours. After the form is baked in an oven, she applies acrylic paint to bring out the character.
In addition to the mountains, trees, and streams that surround her home in Western North Carolina, Holly also gleans inspiration from people she meets. She often sculpts figurines with lots of expression.
Art After Dark takes place on the first Friday of each month from May through December in downtown Waynesville and historic Frog Level. The next one takes place on Friday, June 3, from 6–9 P.M. At this time, Holly will demonstrate her techniques at Twigs and Leaves Gallery, 98 N. Main Street.
