The Lucy Clark Gallery & Studio Hosts 6th Annual Trunk Show Featuring Jewelry, Bags and Fashion

The Lucy Clark Gallery & Studio presents its 6th Annual Jewelry Trunk Show just in time for the holidays. On Friday, November 20, the gallery will partner with the Brevard Music Center (BMC) for an invitation-only reception with funds raised donated to BMC’s scholarship fund. Then on Saturday, November 21, the show will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Seven jewelry designers, a handbag designer and Curated Consignment Boutique will offer high-quality items for sale.

Nancy McAninch, artist

Nina Hansen creates one-of-a-kind, small-batch leather handbags. “This will be my first year participating as an artist, although I was a very enthusiastic supporter of the Trunk Show last year,” she says. “I came as a customer and brought home several wonderful pieces from artists whose work was admired, so it feels especially meaningful to now be participating on the other side of the table.”

She looks forward to the opportunity to engage one-on-one with clients looking at her bags. For attendees, she says, the chance to touch the bags, look closely at the details and ask questions is invaluable and not something that online shopping provides.

“My work is inspired by vintage handbag design, Western horse tack and the free-spirited beauty of boho style,” she says, “but I like to bring those influences together in a more refined, modern way. I love beautiful leather, unexpected textures, fringe, interesting details and, especially, creating bags that feel both special and genuinely enjoyable to carry. There is a little bit of my heart sewn into every bag. I hope that when a woman carries one, it gives her that little spark of joy that comes from owning something made by hand and made with intention.”

She is particularly excited to show off a handbag that features a mountain landscape created from layers of leather. “Living and creating in the Blue Ridge Mountains has become an important part of my inspiration,” she says, “and I love finding ways to translate that sense of place into something a woman can carry with her.”

This will be the fifth year that Vanessa King, owner of Curated Consignment Boutique, in Asheville, has participated in the Trunk Show. “Every piece in our collection will be carefully selected for its craftsmanship, style and condition,” she says, “allowing customers to discover timeless wardrobe staples and distinct designer statements at a fraction of their original retail price.”

She enjoys the annual show for its highlighting of talented local artists and unique items. “Events like this are vital because they build credibility and foster real connections across our creative community,” King says. “For artists and local business owners, it offers valuable visibility and support, while visitors get to engage directly with the culture driving their neighborhood.”
