Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League: Americana

Artist, Bobby Roberts

Americana Celebrates the Land of the Free

For Americana, the newest exhibit by the Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League, member artists were asked: What inspires you about America? From paintings of old barns to photographs of children playing on the beach, these artists have expressed their nostalgia and patriotism in a range of beautiful ways. Curated by painter Cindy Chenard, the exhibit is on display from June 3 through July 22 at the Red House Studios & Gallery, 310 West State in Black Mountain. An opening reception with the artists will take place on Friday, June 3, from 5–7 P.M.

Artist, Donna Davis

Donna Davis’s watercolor painting “Baking Day” was inspired by Saturday mornings she spent in the kitchen with her grandmother. She shares, “I would spend the night on Friday, then help her bake on Saturday. She taught me a lot about baking (she loved sweets), but also about loving what you are doing and the warmth and love between a grandmother and granddaughter.”

The gallery is open to the public with free admission Tuesday through Saturday, 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. and Sunday from 1–4 P.M. For more on the exhibit, visit svfalarts.org.
