Henderson County’s Open Studio Tour

Open Studio Tour Henderson County

Artist, Cynthia Wilson

Always held the third week of September, downtown Hendersonville artists will open their doors to the public Saturday and Sunday, September 17–18, for the Open Studio Tour of Henderson County. Featuring 36 studios and 62 artists along the five art corridors of downtown Hendersonville, the free self-guided tour includes painting, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, fiber arts, metal arts, woodworking, and glass. Guests are welcome from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day as the artists demonstrate, showcase, and sell their works.

“The studio tour brings people to Hendersonville who value our rich and varied artistic tradition,” says Cynthia Wilson, a local artist and six-year veteran of the tour. “The artists benefit from being part of a community of like-minded individuals who work together for a common goal and hopefully find enthusiasm for the work they create.”

The event kicks off Thursday, September 15, from 5–9 p.m. with a preview party at Hendersonville’s new Rhythm & Brews location on Main Street between Caswell and Allen Streets. An art raffle made up of one donated work from each of the featured artists will help raise funds for Henderson County’s Backpack Program, which helps provide nutritious food for kids over the weekends. Guests can meet the artists, see examples of the tour art, and enjoy beer and live music as part of the night’s entertainment.

Printed tour guides are available at the Hendersonville Visitor’s Center located at 201 S. Main Street, at various other locations throughout the town and online at openstudiotourhc.com. For more information, call Linda Hendricks at 828.551.3278.
