When she moved to Asheville, Kelly Chambers brought 25 years of work experience in costume design for television and film, including Emmy and Costume Designers Guild award nominations, with her. “Most of that time was in Los Angeles working in fashion and entertainment and building a career around clothing, character and style,” Chambers says. “As the industry changed over the past five years, I felt ready for a change as well and wanted to move closer to my brother and his kids in Brevard. Asheville felt like a natural fit, and, somewhat serendipitously, Blu29 became available.”
She purchased the business from Heather Stefani in September 2025, and wanted to honor the “strong foundation of quality and recognizable brands Stefani had built with the shop,” Chambers says. “Since taking over, I’ve introduced several new brands while maintaining that same commitment to quality fabrics, thoughtful construction and well-made clothing. My goal is for Asheville women to feel that they don’t have to leave Asheville to find beautiful, well-made clothing that fits their lives, their bodies and their personal style.”
