Downtown Dillsboro
During the first two weekends next month, December 4–5 and 11–12, the town of Dillsboro will hold its 43rd Annual Lights & Luminaries, an event that turns the historic mountain village into an old-fashioned holiday wonderland. This kick-off to the holiday season finds the town aglow from 5–9 p.m. each evening with 2,500 twinkling lights and candles, and shops and businesses festively lit and ready to welcome visitors and help them find the holiday spirit.
“Lights & Luminaries is a chance for our community to come together, welcome visitors and celebrate the warmth and wonder of the holiday season,” says Whitney Kreiling, an event organizer and co-owner of The Fox’s Burrow.
This family-friendly event will also include free horse and buggy rides, live music and caroling and a visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus for photo opportunities. There is no admission, and free parking and a shuttle service are available.
“Attending the Lights & Luminaries Festival in Dillsboro is an annual tradition for so many local and regional visitors,” Kreiling says. “Our town is lit up like a Hallmark Christmas movie, and it’s an easy walk to see all that Dillsboro has to offer.”
