Whether you’re a homebrewer or orchid grower, you’ll find the support you need for your next project through Fifth Season Gardening Company. In 2000, the business opened its first store at 45 Banks Avenue in Asheville as one of the first hydroponic retailers in the Southeast.
Today, you’ll find two stores in Asheville and other locations in Carrboro, Greensboro, Raleigh, and Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition to its traditional offerings of hydroponic and organic gardening supplies, they now carry products for homebrewing, as well as canning, cheese making, and other DIY processes.
Co-owner of the newest store in Asheville Market, Mike Weeks says, “What we do is contagious.” Check out their selection of fruit trees, perennials, annuals, and herbs. At this location only, you’ll find a craft beer and coffee bar. Brewing classes and brew-on-premises opportunities are available.
Each month, a charity receives ten percent of all sales on the last Saturday and proceeds from the tip jar at the bar. For April, celebrate The Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project with a Community Harvest event in Asheville Market on April 30.
Fifth Season’s local locations are at 4 S. Tunnel Road in Asheville Market, and 45 Banks Avenue in Asheville’s South Slope. To learn more, call 828.412.3200 or 828.253.4112, respectively. For events, visit fifthseasongardening.com or their Facebook pages.
