When Susie Tarantino moved to Asheville from Boston in 2000, she got a job as hostess at Southside Café. It didn’t take long before she’d become close with many of the patrons and began helping out where needed.
“I started driving people to doctors’ appointments,” says Susie. Two doctors suggested to her that she start a company. Susie, who had been a housewife for 25 years, asked her son what he thought of the idea. “Mom, if you’re not living on the edge,” he replied, “you’re taking up too much space.”
Susie launched T.L.C. For You, Inc. in 2001 as a full-service home health and companion care company for clients in Western North Carolina.
“We want to keep people at home,” she says. Trained medical professionals provide around-the-clock care or short-term assistance as needed. “This staff has been with me for a long time,” adds Susie.
