A LOTTO Art, 2024
For the third year, the Art League of Henderson County presents A LOTTO Art, the delightful event that lets every ticketholder go home with an original piece of art. This year, the preview event begins Friday, November 7, from 5–7 p.m. The original works donated by Art League member artists will be on view at the Art Place during regular gallery hours through Saturday, November 29, when the live ticket drawing will be held at 5 p.m.

A Little Bit of Zen. Mary Alice Braukman, artist
“Like many arts nonprofits, we depend on the support from membership fees, artwork sales, workshop fees and, of course, grants and fundraising events,” says Diane Dean, executive director of the Art League of Henderson County. “Unlike for-profit art galleries, we aren’t totally dependent on commissions from art sales which enables us to give a larger portion of artwork sales and workshop fees to our artists. Both our new gallery building and our rapidly expanded clay/ceramic studio facility require funding additional display equipment, track lighting, pottery wheels and tools.”
Artist Pam Seeley sees the event as a way to involve the community in local arts. “It’s an opportunity to see local artists in a casual and creative way, and to learn about the Art League and its support of artists and the community,” she says.
Patti Beckert has participated since the event began and enjoys the camaraderie with other artists. “There is wonderful art to enjoy and a friendly competition between ticket holders to get the piece of art on their list, all coming together for a wonderful cause,” she says. “And everyone goes home happy with their art.”
The fundraiser benefits the community as well as the Art League and its members. “People who want to support art but may not be able to afford higher-priced pieces have a chance to purchase art at a lower cost,” says Mary Alice Braukman, “and they know they’re helping the community too. It’s just fun—watching people bid, laugh and give generously at the same time.”
A limited number of tickets will be sold at $100 each. To learn more, purchase tickets and preview artwork, visit ArtLeagueHVL.org.
