Gallery 164 has announced its relocation to 136 North Main Street in downtown Waynesville, marking an exciting new chapter for the gallery.
“Located in the heart of downtown Waynesville, our new gallery is housed in a historic building that carries the character of its many past uses, offering a compelling contrast to the contemporary art within,” says gallery owner Jerry Jackson. “A key element of the restoration has been uncovering the original hardwood floors, hidden beneath five layers of flooring and plywood, adding to the space’s rich history and charm.”
Other changes will happen alongside the relocation, including the addition of

Midnight Flora. Margaret Roberts, artist
ceramic artist Will Hinton to the gallery’s roster. “Will Hinton brings a wealth of experience as both a maker and educator in ceramics,” says Jackson. “Gallery 164 will showcase a series of his wall-mounted platters, where bold, colorful shapes form irregular rims, creating a striking visual impact. His work, a dynamic collage of color and form, introduces a fresh aesthetic while maintaining the same high level of creativity and craftsmanship that defines Gallery 164.”
The gallery is also launching a new partnership with the Shelton House Museum of North Carolina Handicraft. “Shelton House and Gallery 164 share a commitment to community engagement, supporting craft makers and preserving craft history while promoting contemporary work,” says Jackson. “As a Shelton House Board member, I am deeply invested in ensuring the sustainability of Shelton House by helping to increase visitor engagement and financial support for the nonprofit. This partnership furthers our shared mission of celebrating and sustaining the craft tradition.”
