The Open Hearts Art Center will be featured throughout February in the F.W. Front Gallery at Woolworth Walk. The public will have the chance to meet the artists at an opening reception from 4–6 p.m. on Friday, February 5.

Open Hearts Art Center is an Asheville-based nonprofit arts education organization dedicated to serving people facing a variety of challenges, including but not limited to developmental, mental, physical, and emotional disabilities. Established in 2005, Open Hearts is dedicated to empowering differently abled adults to reach their full potential through the arts.

The organization provides these artists with the opportunity to create, promote, and sell their artwork. Debbie Dearborn, director of arts and events for Open Hearts, says, “We believe their work is just as valuable and worthy as any mainstream art in the public today. Our goal is for these artists to integrate with the local art scene and be considered amongst other professional artists.”

It’s not just painting, drawing, sculpting, and other visual art projects. These unique individuals also strive to reach their full potential through creative endeavors, including music, drama, dance, and creative writing.

F.W. Front Gallery at Woolworth Walk, located at 25 Haywood Street in downtown Asheville, is open seven days a week (11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday).
